Title: Vintage Theatre Memorabilia
Post by: Marc-Barr on October 17, 2012, 12:34:01 pm
I inherited some Theater memorabilia and am trying to figure out the best way to sell it. My friend use to be good friends with actress Rosalind Russell and her husband. She gave him some items over the years and when she died her husband Freddie gave him some other more personal items. I'm listing just a few here. The Woman of the Year award is a one of a kind and made of 14 K gold I believe (it is pretty heavy) He wore it every day before he died. The necklace has a tiny red ruby in it as well.

I was thinking about sending some pics to Heritage Auctions. Can anyone suggest somewhere better?

Not sure who gave it to him,but he also had a compact from opening night of Moss Hart's 'You Can't Take it With You'. These compacts were given out opening night to the female cast members.

Still here in TX as well!!!

The real clencher is to see if there are any pictures of her with these items or to somehow show proof they were hers.

If it's a one of a kind item there's nothing to compare it too. It's value is the gold and ruby which a jeweler can tell you. The historic value is another.

I was told the silver Wonderful Town cigarette box was on her end table in her New York Apartment. I would love to find some pics with some of this to authenticate it.My friend originally knew her husband Freddie before Rosalind. When she died, he gave him some of her belongings.
