I was told my piano was an 1800's Ludwig. It is indeed a Ludwig, it has a metal plate in the upper cabinet that says Ludwig and Co. as you'll see in the pictures and Possibly a serial number or item number also. It does have a solid brass back and is on wheels. But from the weight of the piano wheels are sunk into my carpet. I'll have to hire professional movers and I don't know whether it's going to be worth it. I need any and all information available on it for resale.
READY.....SET.....G O....._

Can we have the full picture of your piano? http://antiquepianoshop.com/product/226/ludwig-victorian-upright-piano/ This site might be able to help you. Is this what your piano looks like? I really can't read those numbers.

Greenacres.....I'm sorry... having trouble downloading the correct photos. The numbers are 21180. Ill try again for the correct photos.

You have to resize your photos and make them smaller. They will upload better. Or do one at a time by hitting the reply button. Nice piano.
-
Also, not to get double post give it time. It is uploading. Hit a new tab if your not sure it uploaded and put up the forum on the new tab just to see if it posted.

Nice piano but as an upright,, might be hard to sell !! Takes an army to move them,,damages floors and carpet !! Expensive to have work done !! I have one I would give away but no takers !! Am planning at some point to remove the inside and convert it to a bar !!
-
You could always use a piano mover. I used one when I moved to this house I live in now. I don't remember how much exactly, but I think I want to say $450. That also depends on how important the piano is to you.
-
Yes you can get someone to move them but a high price would be $200. for an upright then to pay $450. to move it would be more than the value of most of them !!
-
It's how you feel about your piano. If you were a piano teacher and it was your only piano, you would pay to move it!
-
True,, hopefully she will find a piano teacher or student willing to do that !!

Greenacres....Mart. ...Cogar .... Wow look at you guys go! youre so awesome! ;D
Mart... Your ideas regarding turning it into a bar intrigues me.....
Cogar ..... Your earlier post about finding a junk piano for the hinges is what triggered me asking about this one so...yay!

During prohibition many pianos like this were converted to bars !! Where the carved panel is on yours would be a door,,inside that panel would have the bar, Keys were left so any government people raided,,the door would be closed and all they would see is a piano. Some were quite elaborate with hidden nooks and crannies !! Bar might have a mirrored back and small light above !! I just thought it was a neat idea !!
-
??? what is this site regarding mart, as I need to have an account?
-
Sorry about that,, tried to move a pic from my email and it didn`t work !! Let me find one that will !! Tried to delete that but that didn`t work either !! Ok finally figured out how to remove a post !!
Now let me find a workable pic !!

The following site may help you make a decision regarding valuing, selling or donating your piano.

For a piece probably dating back to 1900 I would hate to see it remodeled into a bar. There are bars and there are pianos, but they both need to be relative to each other. I can't look at an old upright without recalling a few lines of the Shooting of Dan McGrew by Robert Service.
..."His eyes went rubbering round the room, and he seemed in a kind of daze,
Till at last that old piano fell in the way of his wandering gaze.
The rag-time kid was having a drink; there was no one else on the stool,
So the stranger stumbles across the room, and flops down there like a fool.
In a buckskin shirt that was glazed with dirt he sat, and I saw him sway;
Then he clutched the keys with his talon hands -- my God! but that man could play"...

Her plan was to sell it Rauville but trying to find someone that will buy it and move it may be a trick !! I would try that first !! But if you are stuck with something you don`t want and can`t use,, there should be options that will make it useful for you !!
