Found this in my grandmother's things.
It could be from any decade from the 1920's to 1960's.
It's 6" wide at widest part and 4.5" top to bottom.
The lining appears to be silk or satin (slightly yellowed) and is divided into 2 compartments.
The back has an oversized "belt loop".
Any ideas about this?

I believe you have a 1930`s dance purse !! A lady would put her wrist through the loop at back so both hands would be free to dance !!

She and her friends were always going to Speakeasy's during The Depression.

Prohibition, not the Depression.

They had Dance Halls during the Depression !! Some dance halls allowed ladies to charge $.10 per dance !! Ever heard of "dime a dance" girls ?? Not sure but I think that was mostly during WWl !!

That was one of the most popular songs in the last musical revue I was in!!!!!!
Grandma went to Speakeasy's with her gal pals all the time.
When she went there with her then boyfriend (Grandpa) the gentleman at the door was oh so discreet...
"Good evening madame, sir. Would you like a table near the dance floor or the bar?"
He knew dang well what Grandma's name was.
Hahaha!!
-
Yes,, but he was being a gentleman !! Manners were important back then !! Now days they would have just said "Hey You" !!

True, but he also didn't want Grandpa know Grandma was a regular there.
