Last pic 2nd chair

Thank you! I appreciate you doing that. I'm excited to hear what you think of them. *Crosses fingers*
Please be genuinely old.
-
First impressions, both windsor chairs, first one is a fan back, 2nd is sack back rocker, probably 19th century on fan back and rocker could be but now that i look at it , going to say 20th on rocker. Let's see what others say. LOL @ you and "old", if i've told you once, i've told you a million times, old does not equal quality or value!
-
I know, you know I've wanted 18th century furniture forever and I never seem to find it. I thought this was my chance to trade for what I really wanted. Dangit! :/
-
As luck would have it, i've got some 18th century furniture coming up for sale! Seriously, you live in the wrong part of the country to have good chances at very old furniture, there just isn't much of it out that way. Look at the old woman down in Texas, she's still sitting on tree stumps!
-
LOL The antiques here definitely aren't very old! I just browsed the Craigslist antique section for the first time today and NOTHING is pre-1900. I'm a poor girl so I doubt I could afford your pieces! But feel free to email me pictures any time.

Hey Hosman321 welcome back !! Nice Windsors,, what are you trading them ?? Early to Mid 1800`s looks like !! I would trade but then,,I like Windsors !!
-
well, chairs need their own post i think, not working out very well over here on this thread!
-
I agree !! Can we get KC to move the posts on the chairs to a separate thread ??

She must have wandered off to a stump far far away!

LOL !! Good morning Jacon4 !! Late getting here !! Been watching the pre- election coverage !!
-
a stump far far awayyyyyyyyyyyy, to a stump that nobody has seen before............. ............
-
LOL !! You know its funny but as I read that line I can actually hear you saying it !!
-
Little take off on star wars there!
-
On the far side of the stump, a pair of chairs are revealed for the first time!
I am sticking to my first impression, the rocker is recent, it's far to crisp on turnings & seat to be old and, the black paint does not have a scratch on it!
The fan back looks to have some age but, it's not a traditional fan back, that's OK though as most chair makers did and do alter designs not only for themselves but clients as well. One thing to keep in mind about windsors, they have been built CONTINUOUSLY since the 18th century and are still built by hand today. That makes dating them with photo's alone difficult but to me, from just the pics, the fan back looks like a 19th century chair.
-
I think the black rocker is earlier than that !! One thing I want to know,,,does the seat seem lower than normal !! I have seen a few that were retro fitted like this when the rockers wore out and new ones put on !! Are the legs nailed or pegged to the rocker ?? Looks like nails !! The more I look at the chair,, the more it looks like a retro fit !! Bottom would have been repainted or touched up !! Seat and back looks older than the legs and rockers !! I think its an 19th century chair with a 20th century repair !!

Darn, now I don't know what to do! I would be trading them for something I love. I'm only trading the sign because it's over 12 feet long and a huge pain to move. These chairs are pretty to me but the sign is very valuable and I'm nervous to trade them for something not very valuable. I'll go look for more pictures of the chairs but I may have to send them to you again, jacon, because I can't upload them from my phone.
-
whats the story with the sign, let's see the sign! email & i'll repost
-
Yes,, I want to see the sign too !! Even though the Windsors are nice chairs,, they are modestly priced in that time frame and not hard to find !! An old original sign is something else !!
-
YES! the sign is what is important at this point!!! Let me try and post from my phone, lets see how 20th century this stump jumper software is!!!
TOTALLY 20th century software! cant load a pic from phone either!
EARTH to the forum, it's almost 2017 kids, Hello? come in dear, all stump hoppers front & center!
-
Hosman is hunting the pic, i'll post it if she emails
-
I am waiting !!
-
yeah, i don't think she could find a pic of sign, it's back home in Washington state. I would advise to not trade until i determined value of sign
-
Agree !! Like I said earlier,, Windsors are easy to find and moderately priced,, those signs may not be depending on what they are !!
