Title: Lenox made expressly for Ovingtons New York
Post by: Aphillipps on June 25, 2017, 02:16:50 am
I have a set of 12 I believe dinner plates that are pink with gold trim, X305-214 I believe is the set. I'm wondering what the numbers on the back mean. What I have found comparable is really all over the map. The back says in gold 1830 / 046 x 26-1. Any advisement would be appreciated!(http://)

The numbers on back are usually only helpful to the company !! The 26 is the plate size in cm !! Slightly over 10 inches !! The 046 may be the number of items in a basic set,,serving pieces then bought separately !! Your plate was made after 1931 and before 1953 !! That is about as close as we can get since they may have produced this plate more than once depending on its sales record !!

What we know: Ovington Brothers started in the late 1800's and continued until 1920 using the "Ovington Bros" backstamp - From 1920 until the ceasing of the store/company "Ovington's" was used.
The GREEN "L" and "Lenox" Backstamp was used until 1930. In 1931 "Made In The USA" was added to the logo. In 1953 the logo color was change to Gold. (Lenox is still in business today.)
10" dinner plates (actually closer to 10 1/2") were used up until appx 1960 (at which time they increased in size due to societal changes, more people affording "more" food, etc. Which helped result in increased obesity because most were raised to clean their plates!)
FYI Here's a set made for Marshall Fields like yours for reference: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-LENOX-SET-OF-6-MARSHALL-FIELDS-046X26-1-PINK-WITH-GOLD-RIM-DINNER-PLATES/142419030815 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-LENOX-SET-OF-6-MARSHALL-FIELDS-046X26-1-PINK-WITH-GOLD-RIM-DINNER-PLATES/142419030815)

Your plate was made after 1931 and before 1950, that is about as close as we can get since they may have produced this plate more than once depending on its sales record. This information I gathered from Instagram post that had about 73 thousands of likes! I think this is because its owner repeatly buy instagram likes (https://viplikes.net/buy-instagram-likes) to quickly gain their number.

Thanks for posting, Erasmo, but the OP hasn't been here in 5 years, just about as old as the post itself.

Some of the highest prices for Lenox ceramics are sourced from the patterns and plates produced by the company in the 1910s.dino game (https://dino-game.co)
