Hi, I was wondering if someone could help me identify this vase?
-
I wish I could help you with this... it is a gorgeous vase.
Can you give the dimensions of the piece please?
-
A search for …. “cobalt blue trumpet vase” ……. was close but no match.

Similar here !! These are not that old !! Color is wrong for cobalt or cranberry !! 1960`s or 70`s !!

The crimped work looks an awful lot like Sam Diana's work. Diana Handcraft 1945 Rochester Penna.
-
Hi Wendy177!!!! Soooooo delighted to see your posting! :) How are you doing?
-
Hey KC, I'm doing good! Hope you are well! Miss you all!! How have things been here??
-
Wendy !! Where have you been ?? Its been ages since you have posted !! Have you forgotten us ??
-
Apparently she hasn't forgotten us Mart or she wouldn't be here! LOLOL
Hope all is going well with you Mart.
We have had workers tearing out walls/ceilings/flooring, etc. All from the winter freeze here that busted pipes/flooding. 1/2 of Downstairs is destroyed. Plumbers, Electricians, Pool Services, Construction, etc is in high demand with all the destruction. Our neighbors pools are down for at least 3 months because they can't get parts. (We had no power for 6 days. We tried helping all neighbors to turn off/drain pipes/plumbing/pool pumps before they froze but once power/water was restored after a week it was crazy.) Temp got down to 30 inside our home - we deserted and went and lived with friends a bit.
-
What Misery! Glad you're still with us, KC. Sorry about all the destruction.
Glad Mart's still here!! Mart, did you decide to come back after dipping your toe in the "other" forum for a bit?
Pleased to see Wendy177 back again. With the passing of Cogar and the absence of Jacon, we need more blood around here, whether new or old!
-
The other one is just not,,#1 interesting,, #2 not like family here !! I check in every day but not much going on ! How about you Ghopper ? Do you like it ??
-
Ups and downs of course. Things seem rather slow at the moment. Looks like Jacon/James has flown the coop on both sites! :( :(
This site definitely has a cozier feel, but we need some of our old regulars to show up more; otherwise it's just a handful. 10-15 would be optimal!
Anyway, my thoughts are with you ladies down in Texas. That cold spell really hammered you! Awful when your home is disturbed!
-
We were fine ! But but I hope we do not get that cold again ! One day was -7,,, too cold for me ! Of course being Texas.. next week was nice and in the 60`s ! Who would have thunk it ??
-
I am still here, sort of! Just not regularly.
Yeah, Texas got HAMMERED! Glad to see you Tex folks made it thru!
Nothing like getting caught up in a once-in-a-century climate event to expose weaknesses in energy infrastructure. The solution? NATURAL GAS! it comes to the house underground in a pipe so you can at least have heat & hot water, even more appliances if you invest in a natural gas generator.
Emergency gas generators have been required ( called life safety systems) for decades on many commercial structures to operate the hallway, stairway lights & elevators so people can safely get out of a building during an emergency but these days, many are being installed in residential applications. Install prices have come way down in recent years as the market has responded to the reality that when a catastrophic event occurs, you are pretty much on your own, energy-wise. :)
-
Sorry, I know zero about your Blue Vase! :(
-
I have been looking for more on that cobalt vase and can't find anything on it!
Jacon4 we do have natural gas for a lot of our home. Problem was that there was a hiccup in the Natural Gas flow due to the power plants themselves!
Even though they were doing rolling power outs in areas...our neighborhood was out solidly for 6 days!
-
Yeah, when natural gas isn't flowing, that is BAD NEWS INDEED!
-
Yay, Jacon's back!
-
Well, I never really left, ditto the other site. Although admits I do go for months without posting, ditto here. INH messaged me about where are they now? or some such, geez it's SPRING! Some of those old ladies should get out of the house more, there is a world beyond these forums, trust me. Fact is, there isn't/hasn't been anything to post about, here or there.
-
Now that I have managed to blow this thread totally apart, my most recent piece, Feb 2021
Hanging wall cupboard, Delaware River Valley ( probably Philadelphia) C. 1770, walnut with poplar/pine secondary and "Rat-Tail" hinges.
-
Lovin' THAT!! Beautiful.
-
Well,, I see that you haven`t lost your touch Jacon4 ! Nice buy ! $250 or less ?
-
$450. was the number and I consider I STOLE IT! Antique 18th century hanging cupboards are very HOT in the marketplace, not sure why. They usually go for thousands so I was very pleased with this purchase. :)
-
Ahhh !! Prices are picking up ! Remember a few months ago when selling prices went belly up ?
-
Well, it kinda depends on what you are buying, the market is all over the place, very volatile.
-
Haven`t done much research lately ! Guess I had better start looking around !
-
Hey, I was just over to the other site, you are MIA on the furniture part (the only place I go there), have you pitched it over the side already?
-
No,, Just been hectic last few weeks ! Have no idea why but seems like there is little if any extra time now !
-
I hear you, you haven't missed much on the other forum, trust me. At least as far as old furniture goes, dunno about other areas of collectibles. It's more of an online old fogey social club with various pieces of junk floating by.
I had drifted off myself until a moderator private messaged me about a thread titled "where have they gone" lamenting the fact that many members are no longer active over there.
The beginning of the end perhaps? I don't know but not a good sign when you have threads with that kind of title, that's for sure.
-
Jacon4 I could never get the confirmation to join the site after trying for over a year. Gave up. Still pop in and browse occasionally.
-
Well, you are NOT alone in having Email issues on that site, now it seems almost everyone is and it's been going on for MONTHS! with little or no attempt to fix this issue.
This seems to be a recurring problem with forums, they start off with a BANG! and slowly over time they decline because of this, that, and the other thing. Small details that are not addressed eventually combine into a site that very few care to visit or join or post on.
-
I wish business would pick up here !
-
I wish business would pick up here !
I wish it would as well for the regulars on here but I don't think it is going to.
I just did 2 searches, "Antique discussion forum" and "Antique forums" went 5 pages back in each search result on both terms and this site is not listed.
If the WWW is not aware you exist, you don't.
-
The above search was on google/chrome browser.
I just did the same search on duckduckgo/Brave browser and you are on page 3!
You LIVE still. :)

-
Had never heard of duckduckgo! :O
-
Brave is a fairly new browser that does not track where you go on the internet and uses duckduckgo as its search engine.
Many are concerned for various reasons about the 800 LB gorilla in the room, Google, and are looking for alternatives to their services.
