This small 7 x 10 oil painting is dated 1913. Can anyone tell me about this artist?
-
it's value is in the range of $50.00 to $ 75.00 Dollars
-
I would do a little more research on this painting before I would go out and sale it for 50 to 75 bucks... IHO
-
The only thing I know about this painting is that it has been in the family over 60 years I know of. The painting signed by R. Bohunek, 1913 is a upper portrait of Abraham Lincoln and in the lower right hand corner of the picture is a round advertisement of Lincoln Watch Co. Springfield. "The Lincoln watch".
-
it's a chroma lithograph.does it have a small medal attached to the back?
-
No medal, the canvas is wrapped around and tacked to a 1 1/2 inch board frame with built in corner wedges that tightened up the frame to make the canvas tighter. I thought it was a advertisement for
the watch company, but was surprised to find it was signed.

First all thank you' cogar for your computer expertise. your litho is showing auction records. from $ 350.00 to $ 500.00 Dollars. I'am not talking e-bay.
-
I do not sell on e-bay. What is all involved if a person did want to sell this?
-
If you're opposed to eBay, you can always contact an auction house. Your other option might be a fine antique store. Your painting would interest pocket watch collectors as well as political collectors. I agree, selling it on eBay would be a pain considering what would need to be done crating and shipping it safely. However, if an auction house accepts it (which I'm sure they would) you would still probably have to crate it and they will take their cut of the sale too. It's a very nice painting that needs a nice frame.
-
well first of all there's not enough money in it. for the large auction houses.$ 45.% percent commission $45.00 to 60.00 Dollars and hour for appraisel fee. then there is the catalog fee Here we are back to. $ 50.00 to $75.00 Dollars.

Thank you railman 44 for your inputs, your frame recommendation jogged my memory. When I first found the picture it was in this frame. I removed the picture for safe transportation and had it safely stored. The frame could use some touching up but sure addes to the picture.

If that's the original frame (which I imagine it is), it adds a lot to the desirability of the painting. You may want to reconsider eBay because you can put a reserve on the painting and it it's not met, you certainly don't have to sell. If you live in or near a large metro area you can probably find a buyer that could pick it up which would save you the hassle of crating. I'll be the first to admit I don't know a lot about these paintings but with the frame and the Illinois watch advertisement, I would think it would be worth some good money. As was stated previously, a good auction house is not cheap. I would seek an experienced appraiser of those types of paintings if it were I and make my selling judgements from there.
