If at all possible, please post pictures of the item(s) you're asking about. The chances of you receiving a reply are much greater with in-focus pictures.
How to post a picture. Its simple as long as you have either a digital camera or a film camera and a scanner.
You can upload pictures directly from your computer to this forum...
In the "post reply" or "start new topic" window, at the bottom, you can click on "additional options", and there you can upload a picture from your computer.
OR, you can upload pictures from a host site:
1. Upload the photo to your pc
2. You'll need a photo host. I find www.photobucket.com has worked well. Its free! You'll need to register and log-on. Again, it's free!
3. Once you have a photo host and the picture loaded in your pc, you click on browse in Photobucket
4. Find your picture and doubleclick it
5. click on upload in Photobucket and your photo will be loaded on the photo host
6. After you have written your post in which you want to place your picture, click on the third box under your photo in photobucket - - its the box labelled "IMG" You may also have to click on copy or you may not
7. Then, place your cursor on the correct spot in your new post and right click then left click on paste. You'll get the Image tag or, I believe its called UBB code showing on your post. That code will turn into your pic when you post
8. See, posting a photo is a simple copy and paste.

Thank you for posting this! It is so frustrating when people ask questions that are virtually impossible to answer without a picture! Plus, I love to see their pics anyway!

I can't seem to get pix to upload to your site. Are there any common problems that you can help me solve. I've got a very interesting item and it's making me crazy that I can't put it in front of you folks. My browser just rolls on and on yet not photo gets to you.

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on taking good pictures of coins to post on a topic I opened today. I am having trouble taking clear photos, for some reason the picture doesn't come out there is a streak of light in every picture no matter the angle or lighting.

Sometimes you have to resize your photos in your photo galleries. Right click on the mouse and hit resize and for the glare set your camera for an outside photo. It's usually the flower setting.

I decided to update my avatar ... new hen pic... got rid of the old one but can't seem to be able to load the new one ... nothing happens. It's not a problem, just curious

By all means, I prefer it ... and I imagine it's easier for other users members as well.
You just need to scale it down sufficiently to post, but not too much that you can't zoom in on it.

We've been having little problem on the site with uploading pictures the past few days. The forum owner is working hard to fix it. :)

I have found when I go back to old posts that the photos I uploaded directly to the forum "expire" after a while and are no longer visible on old posts. (This is probably so that the forum doesn't over-burden the server I would guess). I like to use Photo Bucket and link to my photos, that way they don't burden the server and they are still there when I bring up an old post.

Dontbe, how about making a little tweak to your system by lightening up that dark gray background of the "tab banners" or brightening up the text on it because it is hard for my ole eyes to read the text.

OK, new member, I just posted a topic on one of the boards, but for some reason cannot attach the pictures. I have four pictures to go with the post. When I hit the "Additional Options" button, I then attach the pictures. The first time when I hit "Post" the first attachment clears. I then put it back in but again, when I hit Post nothing happens. Please let me know how to take care of this.

I would created a free account at Photobucket, upload the photos there, then copy the link that is provided into the post here. Which browser are you using and are your photos .jpg format?

Thanks for the info, I'm new to the forum. I don't have a digital camera yet and hesitate to post without pic's, although I have a couple of times. I know it can be confusing to read a description and try to picture what someone is talking about, especially detailed descriptions.
I have some other pieces I want to ask aobut but I'll wait until I can supply pictures before posting.

I don't know where to post this. I never put an avatar in my profile. I just wondered what kind of photos are allowed/not allowed. I assume personal photos of us are not, but for instance our pets or just whatever are? I really don't know what I am going to put on my avatar yet. I figured since I am staying with this forum for as long as I can, I may as well update my profile all the way, lol.

I don't know of any restrictions other than "keep it PC or non-offensive".
I believe several members use personal photos as their avitar.

Calina, you can not post a "new topic" to an already posted topic.

Then hit you back button so that you are looking at the "topic titles" page .... and then you will surely see it.

I tried to upload 2 pictures from my file that were cell phone pics. A message came up that said they were too large. That are not anywhere near the max of 4000. I went back and tried to load only one and a message said I posted that already. I looked and it was not posted. This sort of thing and also a long wait while pictures are loading happens all the time to me. Why? I load pictures all the time on other sites without a problem.

I try to load simple file photos taken with my phone and it says they are too large. I remove one and try again and I am told I already posted. I go and look and I am not posted. Why do I always have so much trouble. Now I will have to rewrite the post and gamble that I can do two pictures. If not I will will forget about the post until tomorrow.

Frogpatch, change the "settings" on your I-phone, .... either the "size" of the picture you are taking .... or the size of the picture you are transmitting.
A friend was sending me pictures that were like 36" by 24" (inches) and up to 2 megabytes in size.
I don't own an I-phone so I can't tell you how to do it.

As a newbie here who uploads pictures often, I was stymied for a bit but figured out pretty quickly I needed to convert my picture sizes. Taking a pic right from a camera or cell generally creates larger files than what can be posted here. Resizing files may be all you need to do if pictures aren't attaching. I know my parents would not know to do this...
