Title: Antique Lamp maybe? (Pics included)

Hello, I have no knowledge of antiques and do not know where to start with reasearching this item. I cannot see the base for markings as there is some lead stuck to it. ???
Any advice/information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My first guess is that is a kerosene parlor or funeral lamp that has been converted to electric.
