This past weekends gunshow was slow, and I bought this off a guy on impulse, usually I regret those, but its a neat well made machete with the blade marked Legitimus Collins & Co Hartford with spanish underneath, an old stamp thats similarly marked is on opposite side. Logo on sheath is the same except a possible #13 as model. I cant find anything like this out there in internet world other than a sheath that sold for more than I paid for the whole item so its getting interesting. I also understand there is a Collins reference book out there, anybody have one handy?
Thanks,,,as usual.

I believe the book you are looking for is...Collins: Machetes and Bowies 1845-1965 By Daniel Edward Henry. I do not have one but it is available on Amazon (not cheap $85+).
I have Levine's old knife guide and it lists some Collins military machetes. I Googled just a little and there are a few Legitimus Collins machetes on eBay. Sheath numbers do not always match the machete. Could be a marriage. Google "Legitimus Collins" (with quotes) and read some stuff on the knife forum page. Those guys should be able to help you if you can't find someone with the book.
