I also have this bowl in my booth, but would like to mark it better, if possible. Again, I couldn't find any info on the mark. Can anyone tell me what the mark means (the company, etc) and about what it's worth? The diameter is about 6 in.
I also just want to say that if I'm doing anything unPC on the board, let me know. I'm still new to all of this, and it's not my intentions. I'm just trying to get help, in pricing stuff for my booth. I USUALLY don't put things in my booth, or price them until I research them. If I can't find any info, I guess, and try to guess low. But, I just have a few recent items, that I was clueless about, and wanted to know if I did them right. Unfortunately, I found this board right after I put them in my booth, or I would have waited! :-\
Anyways, here are the pics of the bowl. ;)
The mark on the bottom. Sorry it's not real clear, I used my cell phone. It's a maple leaf with a W in it.

Nice & sturdy bowl , ThisNThat .
Poked around a bit & didn't find a match for the hallmark .
As to your question about being un-PC here ..... well , they've let me stay a member for over a year here @ antique-shop and many have been uber-tolerant of all my highjinks & mis-behaviors .
My opinion goes that it's great to have many diverse members with their own perspectives/interests/motivations/experiences that keep them coming back here .
Many times have I seen members guess together about an item , and often will go to dogged lengths to lend a hand in ID'ing objects .
I must add that when I look at the 'stats' section of the website , I am always pleased to see how generous (& for how long they've been so) many members are with their postings on the forum .
Although those who post here are subject , on occasion , to heaping helpings of fresh Crow from a more enlightened member , it's just part of the fun of learning !

I can help a bit with this one. I just happen to have bought some depression glass mixing bowls and looked at some very similar to these. I would have bought these type, but I was looking for a darker shade of cobalt blue.
There are some very similar ones currently up on Ebay. A complete set of three with the lid for $115. I have seen a lot of these type with the heavy rims listed as being 1930's or depression era.

May be getting a bit closer......anyone have a copy of Lehner's Ency. of US Marks on Pottery??

"Western Stoneware Co. was established in 1906 by combining seven existing potteries in and around Monmouth, IL: Weir Pottery, Monmouth Pottery, Macomb Stoneware Company, Macomb Pottery Company, D Culbertson Stoneware Company, Clinton Stoneware Company, and Fort Dodge Stoneware Company. Apparently Monmouth Pottery was the largest of the seven and had been using the maple leaf logo since 1901. All the potteries making up the new Western Stoneware Co. began using the maple leaf logo, too, since Monmouth, IL was known as the “Maple City

I have a copy of Lehner's, found it but the only thing is says about this mark is "Mark sent be Bette Cooper, 32 year employee of Western Stoneware Company and was found on the bottom of a recent Bowl". It does not give a date range for this mark.

I would suggest, the coloring of the bowl would place it in the 1940's. the thick rim bowl's, are known as shoulder bowl's. I think I see a sticker price of $22.00 dollars.that's a fair price. no chip's or crack's.
