Title: Karpen Furniture

I happened to find this settee at a garage sale.

As you can tell it has had a poor upholstery job.

The metal tag on the back says Karpen
                                              guaranteed
                                              upholstered
                                              furniture
                                              Chicago New York

The springs were covered with a burlap looking fabric which said Bale No 814-B29
                                                                                               Style 938
                                                                                              (unreadable) 1053
Written upside down in relation to the bale no. etc was unreadable
                                                                                 unreadable               
                                                                                 unreadable Los Texas
                                                                                               LBS 375

The settee is still stuffed with straw.

My questions....what year(s) was this model made by the Karpens
                  .....what kind of cloth/leather would have covered the original
                  .....and of course what is its estimated value

Here is a site you could email and likely find out a lot more info on your settee. They don't offer any values, but at least once you know 'what' you have it would be a starting point.
