Acquired this oil lamp today. Still have to clean it up a bit. I believe its the original chimney.
The base reads: Q U E E N A N N E. It also has: S C O V I L L M F G C O Made in USA.
Anyone have any knowledge of these? A date? A value?

I've noticed after just a little research that there are lots marked with No. 1 or No. 2 online. Mine doesn't have a number. Is it an earlier or later one?

floyd, you may get some answers here....

If you go to the Contact Us page and click on Frequently Asked Questions you'll see that they do offer identification services.
Hope this helps a bit. ;)

Thanks for the help, Sapphire. Am I missing where it might be that No 1 or No 2 would be found? I can't easily take the metal part (burner?) off of the base and I don't want to damage it in any way.
-
Does it not want to detach from the base? Have you tried turning it the opposite way from how you would normally 'unscrew' something. Many, if not all 'real' oil lamps are threaded in the opposite direction to ensure against accidental spills.

Ran through the Q & A section looking for Scovill and found this exchange. Don't know if anything in it will help with your identification or not.

BTW, Scovill manufactured the burners, but were not the makers of the lamps themselves
Edited to add.....Sorry, didn't realize this link defaults back to another page. Just down a wee bit you'll find Questions and Answers. On the same line you'll see Archives highlighted. Click that link, type Scovill in the search window and the message I was trying to link to above is the 7th one down. If nothing there helps clarify, I'd suggest the trying the main Q & A too.

I think with the "Made in USA" marking it would be safe to say this was made after the late 1930s.
-
Me thinks the #1 or #2 is the burner size, ..... actually the size of the threaded hole that screws onto the lamp base. Different lamps take different size burners. Lamp makers bought their burners, they didn't make them themselves.
-
Queen Anne refers to the burner. #1 and #2 is the collar size. The collar holds the burner. #1 is about 7/8" diameter, #2 is about 1.25" diameter. Photos are a little off but your pattern appears to be "Cross Lens" made by Findlay around 1890. That may be an old chimney but it's not original to that style of lamp. Your chimney is known an a Matador and usually fits a lamp with a flame spreader. 8)
