Title: Candlestick query

Hi,Folks i have this candlestick and i quite like it although its singular i was wondering if anyone could give me any info on , period mabye value etc etc , i have no idea about this except to say that it looks to have age to it , thanks for your help,regards J

First we need to establish the material they are made of.  It appears to be really tarnish silver or Silverplate from the pics.  If so you should be able to find some markings on the item.  You may have to look really careful they may be hidden under the tarnish.  Style looks Victorian for sure, but that style has been used even today.  If that is Tarnish that black that may indicate the age being victorian.  Also if so don't polish it, takes may years to get that dark and adds value as is.  Like I mentioned we need to figure out  the material and find any markings on the item.

Would agree on spelter or some material other than silver!  Spelter has been used since the 1800's but more common in the early to mid 1900's.

Is there a screw on the underside of your piece?  If so, could you post a pic or describe?
