« on: February 26, 2011, 04:09:06 pm »
Ebay ????  This old yelloware/spongeware lamb mold is really rare, I mean I have never seen one like it and it is large. I have never been able to find out an exact value on this one. I have been thinking about selling it and just do not where the best place would be. Any suggestions ?

I still have not ruled out some of my pottery is Moravian made. Theirs below. Many of my pieces came from an auction that had most of its items shipped over from Germany.
Q: Are the Moravians German?

A: Before 1722 the Moravian Church was primarily Czech, centered in the provinces of Bohemia and Moravia. After 1722, the Moravians became heavily Germanized. By the time they arrived in American in 1735, they had members from Germany, England, Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, and many other European countries. Even though they were an international multicultural church, in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries the official language of the Moravian Church was German.

You have any idea what this was used for ? It looks pretty old by the hardware. It is dovetailed. Kind of reddish in color. I don't think it is american in origin and I have no idea of its age. Its around 17' long and 8 high by 11 deep. Its my mystery box.

Antique Questions Forum / very colorful mixing bowl.

Check out the multi color glazes on this one. Another thing that is odd is the inside. It  is raw pottery,no glaze or finish at all. It has a thick rounded top rim. There is some crazing all over the outside and few old chips here and their. It is 10 1/4 wide and 4 1/4 high. I found it interesting because it is not like any other I have. I wonder if this is known has a salt glaze ? I have no idea of the age, origin or value. Its a keeper though. Just thought I would throw it out here for you all to see and comment on.

I tried over a year ago to get more info on this with no luck. It is a very large cake mold at over 11" long. I guess you call it yelloware/spongeware pottery Lamb Mold. The word Orlice defines as this > Orlice  (German: Adler) is a river in the Czech Republic. Part of the river acts as the international boundary between the Czech Republic and Poland. It is tributary of the Labe river, to which it enters in Hradec Králové. Its main tributaries are Divoká Orlice and Tichá Orlice. I posted on some site that gave free appraisals over a year ago with no response :(  I think it is german type mold but not sure. Age I dont know that either. I know its old ;D  Value well not sure again on that. I know I have never seen one like it. Being yelloware/spongeware would attract those type of collectors and being a mold might attract other as well.

Antique Questions Forum / What was this pot/pitcher used for ?
« on: March 01, 2010, 12:52:32 pm »
It has no spout and you can see it was on some kind of stove or heat. Also check out the wire cut off marks on the bottom. Hand made for sure. Its about 5" tall and 6"wide. Just thought I would post it for some conversation.  Some type of a cooking pot ? Maybe it had a lid at one time ? Any ideas ?

Antique Questions Forum / Spongeware/Spatterware pottery
« on: February 27, 2010, 10:30:46 am »
This might not be considerd spongeware or spatterware, but have you ever seen one like this its pretty old and it looks like it was used daily on some type of stove/burner. Very primitive. I have been trying to pinpoint down its origin and age and if it was a milk pitcher or water pitcher in its day. It has a small number 3 stamped on the bottom. I think it is from old Germany. 5.5" tall and 6" wide. Color is light yellow with blue blotching.

Are certain ones more collectable then others. I have 3 of these. I know they are old probably late 1800's if my reasearch is correct. I know they are not real valuable but they sure look like they took a lot of work to make back in the day. These are made very thick and are very smooth and worn down.
