Antique Questions Forum / flag bracket (wall mount)

i have an old cast iron wall mount flag bracket...maybe from the late 1930's? maybe newer?  my house is 1937. it was on the house when I bought it in 1988.

it has 3 4 then the star symbol on it.  what does this mean and how old is it?  i plan on keeping it and using it but would like to know more about it.
