Rick contacted me with his site. He has each of the World Radio models from 1926-7. Check out his neat
power supply separator in one of the other galleries. Be warned that a radio forum member complained of
pop-ups though I didn't have a problem on my iMac.

The only reference I can find is in Alan Douglas' definitive books "Radio Manufacurers of the 1920's" where he states
that World radios were advertised in Los Angeles in 1925.

I like the display items much more than the products sold to the public. Common sense says there are
far fewer of them. Mine was $60 +postage this month.  I collect radios of the twenties so now I have to
find a World set. Might be tough as I can't even find a photo and none of the experts on the radio forum
have one either. If it was easy it wouldn't be as much fun. I'll be retired in a month or two so will have lots
of time for the quest.

My cast iron sailing ship doorstop says "World Radio" on the base. There was a short-lived radio manufacturer by that name in 1925. A company named Tower also made speakers with metal ship grills. Does anyone know if my piece was a display item for World radio company or possibly generic as in long distance for a radio dealer's shop window? The back has no clips that would be used in a radio lamp. Thanks, Phil
