Antique Questions Forum / Re: Before you ask for advice...
« on: January 03, 2010, 10:05:56 am »
I could use a little direction as to the appropriate ways to use this forum.  I have seven totes of my mother-in-law's dishes. Next spring I will be having a garage sale, so before that I need to find out what is garage sale material and what Is too good for that route.  So, first, on some items, I'm needing help identifying and/or pricing.  Others I'm simply interested in putting out there to see if anyone, other than garage sale buffs, might be interested.  As I was packing up her stuff I took photos of most of the items I thought might be of some value so they are available. I'm thrilled to have found this forum but I don't want to misuse it.

Antique Questions Forum / Antique set of china
« on: January 03, 2010, 09:58:02 am »
Another thing I inherited from my mother-in-law is her good china.  Not sure of the age but they were married in the 1940s. It was made in Japan and I've included a photo of the marking. There are  11 complete place settings (plate, cup, saucer, soup/salad bowl, bread plate, dessert plate) plus one extra saucer and one extra bread plate. Also creamer, sugar bowl, gravy boat, round serving dish, oval serving dish, two serving platters (one large & one small).  Any direction you could give me on how much this set is worth would be greatly appreciated.

Antique Questions Forum / Re: Austrian - Habsburg vase - value?

The second one does appear to be the same as the one on the site you directed me to.  thank you.  I've save that site as it could prove very useful as I try to determine the value of the many items I inherited from my mother-in-law.  In the case of the one I featured, any guess as to what I should ask for it?

Antique Questions Forum / Austrian - Habsburg vase - value?
« on: January 02, 2010, 09:56:32 pm »
When my mother-in-law passed away a year ago, at the age of 96, we inherited several items that I need to find the value on before deciding how to dispose of them.  One is a vase that says it was made in Austria - and says it is Habsburg China.  If anyone can tell me an approximate value for it and, if it is valuable, where I should start in finding a buyer.  Actually there is another one very similar but it just says "Austria" on the back along with the number 104 printed in gold and a symbol that looks like a slanted tic-tac-toe board.
