Antique Questions Forum / Need help with a maker's mark

Hi.
I just purchased a brilliant-blue glass bowl (funny
shaped--not round). On the bottom, it reads: Patd.
March.9-1886. The maker's mark to the right of the date is
a capital G with a vertical line through it, with backwards
points at either end of that line. Any idea of the
manufacturer? The country it was made in? The value? Any
assistance would be super. Thanks!
