Antique Questions Forum / Re: Help Identifying Silver Mark

Hi,

The only marks on the pieces are what I posted. I don't think it's sterling, maybe silverplate. I have other pieces that do have the three marks on them so I understand to what you are referring. Thanks for the info.

Antique Questions Forum / old or vintage? Wooden boxes.. part 3
« on: June 11, 2010, 02:27:01 pm »
Hello last time,

3. Small one is 4 12" x 4 1/2" with some kind of carving on the top and the sides are also carved?? Not sure, they are rough not smooth with lines all around.  I apologize for my ignorance in describing these. The inside is very clean, and the wood looks very smooth and is in great shape.  The lid is hinged.  Box is very light.

Thanks for your help with this.

Antique Questions Forum / Old or vintage? Wooden boxes.. part 2
« on: June 11, 2010, 02:24:51 pm »

Hello Again,

2. Second wood box says "hand carved from Mexico"; tag inside says "Industrias Zarebski s.a. and "made by hand from semi precious stones.  The "carving" looks like an Aztec or indian or something like that. Sorry I'm not very good at identifying it.  The carvings are on top, front, and sides. The lid comes off. Inside is the same wood as top.  Measures 7" x 5" and 2 3/4' deep.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I'm trying to get ready for a garage sale and found these three wooden boxes from my father's estate. I think they are from at least from the 40's or 50's.  They are not in pristine shape but two of them do have carvings or decorations that make them sort of unusual.  I am enclosing pictures. Because the photos are large. I will do one post for each box.

1. This one has nothing to indicate where it comes from.  Dimensions are 8 3/4" by 7" with a base of 7 1/2". An old sailing ship is engraved, not carved I don't think, because the top is smooth on the top. I've enclosed close ups.  The inside looks like it's wood.. has some wear. The top is hinged.

Thank you so much.  I should remember to check ebay as well as just googling the marks.  I appreciate everyone's help with this.

Hi,

I'm including a picture of the mark on the handle of the serving pieces. Each piece is 13" long and about 2 12" at the middle of the spoon. There is no mark that says silver plate or sterling on either piece.  Hope these pics help.  And thanks for your help with this.

Thanks for the info.  The silver mark is exactly the same except instead of Hall on top and Mark on the bottom of the box, it says England at the bottom.

I googled all kinds of possibilities for S G england; S & G england etc, but didn't find anything. I did see those hallmarks on the page you mentioned.  I don't think it's antique either but it is 30 years old.

Hi, All

I cannot seem to find out who the maker is of this salad set.  The mark is S G with Hall and then Mark on the top and bottom.  It also says England on the silver. The set is about 30 years old.

I've attached a picture with the mark on the bag it came in.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Antique Questions Forum / Re: Italian Sounding Glass??? What is it?

Hi,

I went back and looked and the stoppers are cut along the sides.  I couldn't find "Italian Sounding glass" online either.  I think I'll just sell them at my garage sale.

Thanks for all your help.

Antique Questions Forum / Italian Sounding Glass??? What is it?
« on: May 30, 2010, 01:32:09 pm »
Happy Memorial Day Weekend,

I have what I think is a cruet set. The label on the bottles says "Italian Sounding Glass"  VPB Milan.  Does anyone know what his glass is?  Is it worth anything?  I believe they are possibly at least 30 years old.

Thanks for your help with this.  I'm enclosing a photo of the set.

Thank you for the advice.  I'll try to find some markings. I did find an antique dealer I can take them to. I've been checking American Brilliant patterns online and they look similar to these but I haven't identified an exact match.

Again, thanks for your help.

Antique Questions Forum / Help Identifying vintage Cut Glass bowls
« on: May 29, 2010, 01:59:24 pm »
Hi, All

I have several pieces of what I think are cut glass. They are from my Grandmother's estate.. Two large footed bowls about 7 1/2" X 4". I also have a creamer approximately 3" at the spout and 5" to  handle.  Also a candy? dish with handle about 6" across. All have very intricate patterns often in star type shapes.  I'm enclosing some photos. Any help in identifying if these are indeed cut glass and if so any chance they are American Brilliant?  There are no markings on them. I am having a garage sale in a few weeks so if these are not worth much, I'll just sell them there. The large bowls have a couple of small chips on the rims.

Thanks for your help with this.

Thanks so much for all the help.  The Replacements item is my stemware. I sent them a pic and I guess they have no clue what it is.  At this point, can anyone hazard a guess about what it might be worth if I want to sell it?  Should I try to take it to an Antique store or just sell it on Craigslist or a garage sale?

Thanks.

Thanks so much for your effort to identify the stemware. The sets are not the same.  Sorry I wasn't very clear about that. Here's a closer and better look, I hope of the wheat pattern on the martini glass. If you click on the picture it will also enlarge a bit more.
