We want to SEE the marks.  A text description of the mark is not enough.  Many marks sound alike by the written word.  Additionally, little variations in a mark will make a dffierence to the date of the item, thus the value and intrique.

If you are going to sell this, put photos of the mark in the ad.  The bottom also show the crazing which effects the value and buyers will want to see it.  The more photos, the merrier.  Little ads bring little dollars, or few photos bring few dollars.

You have GREAT photos of the piece and the mark.

Bottoms up!  ;)

Hmmmmmmmmmm, I thought occupied Japan was after WWII.  Keep in mind my area of research is Bohemian porcelain.

I just looked it up on Gotheborg.com.  Here is a quote:

"'Occupied Japan' (OJ) is a term used for the time period from 1945 (after World War II) through April 25, 1952; it was during this time that the Allies "occupied" Japan. "

What is it worth I don't know, [deleted some text]

Do a search on occupied japan porcelain with Google and the second item that comes up will be an explanation about this and how to tell if it is authentic or a repro.

:) I have been communicating with the seller of this item.  He seems sincere.  He does not know what it is and is correcting his listing.  He even plans to buy some polish remover to see if the mark is removable.

Go for it and save the gentleman a trip to the store.

Most people need to see a photo of the piece and the marks on the bottom.  A verbal description is not enough.

Photos of the doll and the marks would help.

West Germany means it was made after WWII and before the Berlin wall fell.
