Antique Questions Forum / Robert Fulton Statue
« on: December 18, 2004, 10:47:06 am »
rolleyes: Hello, I'm new here!

I have a question about a statue of Robert Fulton we have in our family. It stands about 9 or 10" high and has two labels on the bottom.

One says "Statue of Robert Fulton with Model of First Steamboat" copied from original in Statuary Hall, U.S. Capitol, Washington DC which was presented to the US Government by Fulton's native state Pennsylvania". The name of the company unfortunately has worn off but I can discern a "W" as one of the initials of the name of the company and "Washington DC".

The second tag is "From Smith Bros., 155 E. James Street, Lancaster PA"

Does anyone know anything about the history of these statues, when they were made?  Any help can be appreciated!

Thank you!
