Antique Questions Forum / Re: Help finding info on Antique? bedroom set

Thank you so much for the info on the furniture company.  I'm not an expert by far but I guessed the furniture was from the 20's.  I feel like I got a bargain only having paid $300 for the whole set and it is in GREAT shape.  The casters all roll smoothly as do the drawers.  I bought it because I loved it.  I have no intention on selling it because I do think old furniture is made much better and it also has so much character.  I really just wanted to know more about it and it's possible worth.  Again...thanks for the info so far.

I see this has been veiwed over 20 times but no one seems to have any replies.  Is there something else I can add that would help?  Is there something I should look for?  I looked it over pretty good and couldn't find any names, numbers or anything other than the one sticker.  Any info or advice would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Ok...I bought this set at a garage sale.  The owner bought it at an estate sale where he was told it was bought for a woman by her husband on their wedding night nearly 100 years ago.  The only thing I could find on the furniture was part of an old sticker that said Caldwell Furniture Company in Lenoir, NC.  I tried finding a history on the company but all I could find was something about a merge with Thomasville Furniture in 1968.  The drawers are all put together with dovetail cuts which are pretty rough and not symetrical at all.  Also the wood appliques look hand carved and so do the designs on it.  There are also accents that were stained lighter and looks like swirls with a paint brush in them to make a design.  I took some pictures with my phone but the quality isn't the best.  I would appreciate any help with finding out what the history is and if it's worth anything.  Thank you for your time.

Antique Questions Forum / Just bought this antique bedroom set

So I found this at a yard sale in a small rural town.  I was told it was close to 100 years old.  I actually got two stories about where it was bought from.  One told me it came from a furniture place in Ripley, WV called Vails or Vales Furniture and then I was told it was shipped in from an unknown furniture place in N.C.  I've always had an attraction to antiques but this is my first real collection I guess you'd say.  Don't know where to look or what to look for.  I just know that the drawers are all dove-tailed and it looks to be hand carved with veneer inserts???  Any info on what to do, look, etc. would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for your time.

I can get better pictures once I put it in my place.  These were taken on-site when I bought it.

OK...so I found a sticker on the back that says Caldwell Furniture Company, Lenoir, North Carolina.  No date and all I can find on the company is that they merged with Thomasville Furniture in 1968.  Anyone know anything about it or how I can find out when the company was in business from the beginning?
