« on: February 24, 2005, 02:48:46 pm »
I am doing research on an etching by Ernest C Rost. It is on heavy cardboard, and Is hand written in pencil "Road to the Sea" by Ernest C Rost. I have found lotsa info on the artist, but haven't been able to get a good fix on prices and values. This does have some water spot damage on the top of it. I am doing research for a friend. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated.

I have a primitive(I think) oak table and 4 chairs from the 1930's.Unfortunately someone has attempted to strip it. It has 2 extra leaves. The chairs did, at one time have a handpainted design in yellow and burgandy on the backs. I think this is only worth about a hundred dollars. Any ideas or suggestions? There is a number on the bottom of the table which reads 1937, year or auction number????? The table top is 2 solid pieces, with 2 leaves. Thankyou

I have my granny lily's toby jug. It is drop dead ugly. It is the largest of a set of 3 . It was a gift in 1950. It was made by the burlington pottery in the Uk. I haven't been able to find out too much about it. For years I kept it  in storage because it is just too ugly to display. Then I put it out for a while. It is again in storage. It is a full figure toby, with the typical green coat and black hat.  Any ideas as to its value or info on the pottery company?

Antique Questions Forum / Artwork

I have a small picture(original), by George Reson. I have found very little information on this artist. I know the picture is from the mid 40's. It is a picture of a little girl sitting on a potty. It is framed with no damage to the picture. The title is "Les Affaires sont Les Affaires"

If you would like a digital photo of this ,please include your email address in your answer to the value of this item or of any other of my listings.

I also have an original from Ernest C Rost, called "Road to the Sea", it is an unframed etching. It does have some water spots in the sky area. The package it is in came with an old newspaper from St. Louis, dated 1891.It is however in pieces, and is also in German.I don't know if this was packing for the artwork.

Antique Questions Forum / Hovsep Pushman Print
« on: February 11, 2005, 08:56:56 pm »
I have a print by Hovsep Pushman, called When Autumn is Here. It was copyrighted by The New York Graphic Society in 1942. The University of Illinois, bought the original in 1940, and commissioned the NYGS. to make prints( unauthorized by the artist himself) This  started a lawsuit By Pushman with the NYGS, but he lost as the copyright, at that time belonged with the owner of the artwork. This was overturned after Pushmans death in 1966. I have not found any more information on this. The NYGS told me that they did not have records as to how many of this print they made. The university of Illinois did not reply at all. I was wondering  what value this has, besides historical. How can one price such , when there is so little information out there? Any comments?
