Antique Questions Forum / Big Stoneware Container early-mid 1800's, Anyone Know Anything Else About It?
« on: August 01, 2010, 08:43:18 pm »
I found a big container marked Doulton & Watts which after some research turns out to be the humble beginnings of Royal Doulton. Watts left in the mid 1850's and the company changed to just Doulton & Co so it is definitely pre-1850's. Problem is the markings don't match any of the known markings for Doulton & Watts and I'm stumped.
It is ~ 2-2.5 ft tall, I'll measure it tomorrow if it would help to have an exact number.
There are no visible markings on the bottom.
There is a "3" marked on the body, opposite of the Doulton marking. (see picture)
There is a Doulton & Watts Marking on the Top. (see picture)
Pictures are taken with a cell phone, if you need high res photos don't hesitate to ask.
