Thanks everyone for the information re: the Greek cup. I know I posted the question a long time ago but I am seeing the reply's now. You have given me alot to work with. I appreciate your time and expertise.

Personally I don't know of any such use for this cup, that's why I used a question mark in the Title.  But it was suggested because of the nature of the objects on the cup. Weather it's a souvenir or something a bit more profound I would like to know what it is. I am a terribly curious creature by nature and have exhausted search engines on the internet.  I have posted here before and at times no-one could give me a complete answer to my question but there were a few suggestions and within that I was able to learn a name or feature of the item and submit a new search and found volumes of information if not the answer... So, any information on like items or what the pictures or symbols represent on the cup may be a great help.  Thanks again...

Antique Questions Forum / Ritual/Blood Cup? Marked "GREECE" on the bottom
« on: December 25, 2010, 06:36:16 pm »
I have a cup that has raised symbols such as Rams Heads, corn and others that I am not familiar with.  It is Brownish Green in color, is aprox 3" high and across. I believe it's made of clay but could be wrong. It is stamped "GREECE" on the bottom with another symbol crossing over it. Would like to know the History, Origin, worth or any information at all would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much...

Yes indeed Wendy177, it is a Bohemian Lausitzer Cut Crystal Cobalt Bowl Made In Germany.  I found one with a slight variation on the placement of the roses otherwise it's exact.  I have had possession of this bowl for 16 years and finally I know it's History.  Thank you so much, everyone for your help.  I truly appreciate it.  Now, on to yet another mystery object that I am dying to know all about.
I LOVE THIS WEBSITE!!  ;D

Antique Questions Forum / Re: A question about coin cleaning.
« on: September 10, 2010, 09:58:18 pm »
The first rule of coin cleaning is: If you don't know its value, don't clean it, or if you think it is valuable, don't clean it, or if you know it is valuable, don't clean it. In other words, do not clean your discovered coins; leave them untouched and stored in proper holders. The reason for this is that coin dealers and collectors are interested in purchasing coins in their original condition and natural state of preservation. However, if your determined to clean your coins or have no desire to sell your coins for profit then I absolutly swear by Carnu-B wax or Metal Shine.  I buy it every year at our local Fair in Seattle but you can get it on-line as well.  It's actually for auto's but I discovered it about 10 yrs ago and first thing I did was start to polish all of my silver with it.  It will not harm your coins as far as cleaning them and virtually restores them to like new.  But I have to agree with CollectorsOnlineMal l. If the coins are valuable or your unsure of their value it may be best to leave them alone.

Hi ThisNThat, sorry about the delay in answering.  My husband and I visit Haiawassee Georgia every few years. If your not familiar with the name it's in the cusp of North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.  There is a huge lake called Chatuge there and it's so beautiful.  Anyway, found this at a place outside of Murphy N.C. A huge swap meet called Deckers.

I have this Cobalt Blue Cut to Clear Lead Crystal (Etched) Bowl that I received from my father as a Wedding gift.  It doesn't have any markings or labels and I am curious to know if anyone has any information such as origin, designer etc,.
Bowl Measures Approximately 6 1/2" in Diameter and is quit heavy.  Thanks for your time and consideration.

Ok, thanks again hosman321, and no, I don't plan on doing anything to him.  I have had him for some time and he just sits in the corner and collects dust.  You have been very helpful.  Again, thanks.

Found this Tapestry in Georgia at a swap meet around 15 yrs. ago.  From what I can tell it is a Burmese Tapestries or Kalagas.
Does anyone have any information on how to date these or origin etc.,?  It is aprox 3 ft. tall X 2 ft. wide.  Thank you so much..

Hosman321, Katherine passed away at 93 yrs old in 1993.  She was actually 5 yrs older than her husband Ozias "O.J." who passed away 6 months after his wife.  There is still a furniture shop in Boston that is currently operating but at the time of their deaths they lived in Hollywood Fl.  I am not sure who owns/runs the business.

Thanks Chris, I had a hard time finding anything on The Klette Company save for a brief description at a linked website.  I too am surprised that they have been around as long as they have.  I went to your website and wish to say it's a great site with a wealth of information and easy to navigate.  Kudo's to you...

The words are inscribed and I tried rubbing and it still comes out as Triarn Tiam, Paris, assuming these are the letter T.  Doing the rubbing did make the letters alot more legible. So thank you for the helpful suggestion.  I just cannot find anything on this yet..  frustrating.  And it's possible that it's made out of a resin but the back below the shoulders look so much like wood and whereas the forehead is hard and shiny the back is softer and you can almost take a fingernail and scrape the material off.  It has me stumped. I can't even think of a material that this resembles.  Please keep bringing suggestions or answers, you all have been so helpful and I do appreciate it very much.
