Sorry, Wendy - I have been greatly amiss in not thanking you for your detective work!   I've been preparing for my Mother's estate sale....and things have been pretty busy.  Thanks again!

Still more from my Mother's estate.
1)  These are champagne/shebert glasses that have a minimum of decoration - just a couple of lines and leaf-like marks near the top.

2) Set of 4 engraved liquor/mini martini glasses.

3) Set of small (about 4") engraved wine glasses.

They were probably purchased in the late 40's or early 50's.   If you can help me identify them, I will appreciate it.  Thanks.

From my Mother's estate:  A set of wine glasses with an interesting pattern of lines with leaves that swirl up from the bottom and around the glass.  If you can ID them, and suggest a value, I'd appreciate it.  Thanks!

More stuff from my Mother's estate:
I have several sets of cut glass stemware, and I'm trying to identify it and get an idea on it's value.  I'd really appreciate your help.  There are champagne, water goblet, wine and sherbert glasses in this pattern.

It's definitely a bellows - but what looks like threads on the metal tip make me wonder if it had a special purpose other than making fires hotter.  Could it have been used to pump up the tires of a bicycle ?  Were air-filled tires available at this time this was made?

Thank you, Ironlord and KC, for your comments.  Probably 60+ years ago, my Mother bought this piece to add additional decoration - as she was a china painter.  I do rather like the simplicity of the plain white porcelain.  I wish she had painted it - she did some gorgeous vases using the subtle, blended colors we see today as 'in' colors for home decor, knitting yarns, clothing, etc.  I suppose, however, that painting it (in 2010), even if very well done, would diminish it's value.

Antique Questions Forum / Re: FRANCISCAN WARE DESERT ROSE USA PIECES

According to Replacements, Ltd:

Manufacturer Status: Discontinued Actual: 1941 - 1984
Pattern: DESERT ROSE (USA BACKSTAMP) by FRANCISCAN CHINA [FN DERO]
Description: USA BACKSTAMP,PINK ROSES

I don't know what you mean by 'old' - but since these pieces are marked 'USA', and production was discontinued in 1984 in the USA, they can't be too new.  I remember my Mother using them when I was a small child - perhaps 60+/- years ago.  I don't know when she bought them, but I'm pretty sure it would have been before the 1950's.  I'll be glad to send photos if you're interested.

Once again, I discovered some 'goodies' while going through my Mother's things.  I think that this is NOT the forum to inquire about 'Desert Rose' - but if someone could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.  I have 12-14 odds and ends including a domed lid with vent hole, individual sugar and cream, individual coffee pot and other things.  I'm interested in their sale value.  Any help would be appreciated.   I can send photos - but wasn't sure if 'this was the right place'.   Thanks in advance.

Antique Questions Forum / Re: TWO-HANDLE LIMOGE DISH, 60+ YRS OLD

Thanks, again, Wendy.  Even at $25 value, I am "vaguely" ???? pleased.....       ;D      I thought it had 'potential' as the design was pleasant, but the color was not.  I had suspected it was previously gold - and that had been worn away, leaving only the underlying brown.  So -- one less curiousity that I need to research!    ;D

Thanks, Waywardangler.  All of the 'occupied Japan' pieces that I have found are figures or some kind - a 3-dimensional something-or-other - not a rather 'plain' bowl and lid like this.  The occupied Japan pieces also seemed, to me - and I must admit that I am NOT a collector of these items - a bit crude, without much 'sophistication'.  It is a shame that I cannot find a maker's mark on this piece.  Just out of curiousity, I would like to know about it.  I would like to sell it, since I'm not a collector.

This is another Limoge piece I discovered in my Mother's attic.  It is at least 60 years old.  It is a shallow dish, about 7-8" across, with two rather wide handles.  There is a Limoge mark on the bottom.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

This pair of dishes, about 6" across, has been packed in a box for at least 60 years.  They have individual flower with stem paintings circling the outer edge, like numbers on a clock.  They have both the Limoge/France marks.  Can someone place a value on them?  Thanks.  Linda

Hello!  In going through my Mother's home for an estate sale, I found some china/porcelain pieces that she had purchased ?60? years ago - plain white, so she could paint her own designs on the china.  There is a piece marked "Made in Occupied Japan" - a covered dish about 7-8" across - with raised decoration on the sides and top.  The 'knob' is a lovely rose with very delicate petals.  I looked at over 3,000 pieces of occupied Japan items on eBay - and this piece is very different from everything that I looked at.  I have read everything about the 'occupied Japan' exports - and note that there are several discussions on the forum about the history of these marks - but I would like to know the value.  Thanks in advance!  Linda

I had a little trouble in resizing photos to go with my post about Made in Occupied Japan china.  When I tried to re-post with jpg photos, I got an error message that I had already posted that topic....but I don't see it on the forum.  Can someone help?  Thanks!
