Antique Questions Forum / Glass Fish Bookends
« on: June 19, 2011, 05:53:55 pm »
Thought these looked interesting, so I bought them( $21 ). Not sure how old they are, but they appear to have a natural glow to them so I was thinking uranium/vaseline glass. Unable to find anything that matches on google so just taking a chance that someone here might recognize.
They measure 10 inches high  x 9.5 inches long, weigh about 4lbs each, and have controled bubbles and gold flaking. Have included a couple photos of fish and base. Thnx for looking.

It was untagged( found it in a drawer ), and the people running the sale for the family had no info on it.
Most likely will go in the $5 special section( small closet I have filled with items purchased dirt cheap that need to be researched )

Found this at an estate sale. It is a pointer of some kind( teaching, music...?). There was an antique piano in the house... so maybe for music lessons? 20 inches long and looks to be made of ebony with brass rings and tip with mop inlays. any ideas would be appreciated. thnx for looking.

Found this tapestry and was familiar with 'The Angelus', so I bought it( $12 yardsale art ). It is in really good condition, but not sure as to how old it may be. It is approx 24 x 20 with just a little fraying on the ends. Hoping someone here is more familiar with this kind of thing. As always, thnx for looking.

I was wondering about the decoration myself...looks as if it was painted by dripping the colors onto it (like decorating a cake)...if that makes since. Was more interested in how it was put together. Many small square and triangle pieces put together to form a sphere. My first thought was bone, but comparing it to my ivory buddha and hotei( verified ivory ) I could not see the difference. Though, as stated, I know very little on this subject.

I am sure this will be easy for most, but I am clueless. Bought this ball?( yardsale ) because it looked old and was inexpensive. I assume it would have been placed on a small stand. Also, not sure what it is made out of.
It is 4 inches high( approx 13 inches around ) and heavy. Appears to be made of smaller panels but perhaps hollow inside? Yellowing from age or cheapness I do not know. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thnx for looking.

Was thinking of purchasing this album( it is also full of old pictures ), but I am not really sure what it is worth. checked ebay and found some older celluloid? ones that look somewhat similar. hoping someone here might be more familiar. thnx for looking.

Also, the UK appears to have a greater affinity for owl related items. If you opened up your shipping options to them on Ebay, it would probably generate alot more interest.( I have had some moderate success in the past ^with Owl glass, crystal, paperweights and the UK buyers. )

very cool owl there. unless it is marked or signed it will be very hard to attribute a date or value. with all the owl stuff your going through I would start with all the signed ,numbered, or marked ones first.

nevermind....I found it through your Howard Pierce owl.

I am always on the lookout for vintage and interesting owl collectibles( especially glass ). What is your ebay seller name so that I may take a look? thnx.
