Antique Questions Forum / Licoln Desks??
« on: June 17, 2003, 09:33:13 pm »
I am trying to find any information on a couple of desks that I've aquired. They were part of the equipment purchased from a company in Chicago that went out of business several years ago.

I have no idea what type of wood they are made of. The dimensions are 60"w x 36"d x 30"h. There are 3 letter drawers on the left side and one letter drawer and a file drawer on the right side. The center drawer has a built in pencil tray at the front. and there is a lock on the center drawer, but i  do not have a key. The kneehole goes all the way through to the other side. On both sides, above the top drawer, there is a pull out shelf. The drawers are assembled with dovetail joints.

The desk sits on 6 fluted legs that are about 9" high.
The only marking on the desk is an emblem inside the top left drawer, on the right hand side. The emblem is round and says LINCOLN DESKS, and shows an engraving of Lincoln's head and a scroll with FOR THE WORK OF THE WORLD  written on it. At the bottom edge of the embelm is engraved TRADEMARK REGISTERED.

Sorry for the long post, but am trying to be as descriptive as possible since I don't have a pic to post.
Thanks for any help.
Mike
