Antique Questions Forum / Re: Copper dagger

Thanks for all the great input.     makes sense to me,  hadn't even  thought of  a letter opener,  seemed to ornate and solid.   Any thoughts on how I might determine age?   like I said, no manfactures mark,  and not cheaply made.

ok, it's been awhile since I made use of your expertise.  I've got a dagger , copper blade, brass handle and copper? sheath, sheath is cloth lined.

Very ornate.    blade is 6 inches long, 3/4 wide and about 1/4 inch thick in center.  No manufacturer marks that I can find.

I've got agree hosman.  the fun part for me is having something that was utilitarian  100 years ago-  the uniqueness of the object in todays society.

Yes it is original and has been refinished.  The seat does lift up for storage.  A real beautiful piece of furniture.

Here is a nice wooden chest-  37 X 24 X 22
wide boards-  sides/top and bottom are all single boards
cut nails, with machined screws.
I'm guessing built prior to 1925 or so.

It is definately something that will  be passed down to future generations.  Luckily my ancestors were packrats also.
