Can anybody tell me anything about this old nightstand?  It appears to be pretty antique and says it is made by Drexel?

So I was able to figure out the markings or hallmarks on the larger gilded perfume bottle were as follows: The Letters "CN", a horizontal anchor, The Letter "S", and finally the lion passant.  I know the last one should mean sterling silver but anyone have any ideas about the others?  And also would the purse be considered cloisonne?

Defintely, Thanks Wendy.  How do I figure out the maker?  I have been trying to figur out what the engraving on the perfume bottles say.  My camera isnt good enough to capture the tiny print but I will try my scanner tonight  and see if that can help.  I sincerely appreciate the advice :)

I found a few items at some yard sales I did this past weekend.  Really curious if anyone has any idea about what these are.  I think one of these is a purse but it looks very vintage or antique.  The other two are perfume bottles that may have gold caps.  One of the botles has some engravings along the rim of the cap on the outside (looks like letters "CN" and not sure about the others, very small).  I know i should probably gold test the perfume bottles.
Any info is helpful.

I got the dressers from the same sale and the trunk and desk from different ones.  Anyways, I like the one in the fourth pick as well.

I just did some yard saling and was fortunate enough to pick up some interesting furniture which I am curious about.  I was wondering if any members may know anything about these items.  I have addtl. picks of some of the items so let me know if you need to see more angles.
Thanks,
joe

Antique Questions Forum / Interested in Button Auction
« on: April 27, 2011, 10:28:44 pm »
I am interested in bidding on a HUGE antique button collection on Ebay.  I was wondering if there are any forums or places I can go to discuss and learn more about button collecting.  I think that it would be interesting if I can get more information on buttons and how to collect them as my family collected them for awhile and my mom would love these.  Anyways, please let me know if there are any useful sites I can visit.
Thanks,
Joe

Ok,

Here are some pics of the back of the mirror etc.   I believe the top is some kind of hardened foam.  I was able to slightly probe at the blemish on the top of the piece in the pic.  The front spiral seems to be a durable material such as wood but I am unsure.

Thanks for all your comments and help regarding this piece :)
Joe

Yeah, i think so too.  I am already contacting some designers nearby who might be interested or have some use for something like this.  I would LOVE to put this in an auction too, if i could figure out where to go in Northern california.

Where would I go get these refinished?  Also are there any good auction venues on the west coast ( I am in Sacramento) where I could consign something like this?  I am becoming good at finding this stuff but still need to learn what to do with it once I get it.

Ok,

Here is the Dresser I just acquired this past week that has me really confused.  It looks like it could be a really nice piece but i am not sure about the age and type.  Also, i have no idea what the value on something liek this might be, or even how to sell it.  Would it be best to consign maybe??

Anyways, please let me know if anyone here has any ideas on this piece.  It was extremely tough to move.  Thanks!

I just picked up this Antique Mirror at a yard sale I attended this weekend along with a dresser in another listing.  This mirror is beautiful and looks like it could be something pretty nice and old.  I was wondering if anyone here may have any ideas on the type of mirror this is, how old it is, and possible value?

Let me know, i am really curious to see what everyone here thinks...

Hey Guys,

I picked up this nice little fold out table this weekend.  Just not really sure what I have here though.  Is it a sewing table?  Any ideas on value?  Also where is the best place to sell vintage antiques like furniture?  I have a nice little collection starting up but my gf is going to kill me if I don't start selling some of them soon.  Its just tough to tell sometimes, i have been trying to visit consignment shops, if anybody knows of any in the sacramento area that would be great.

Anyways, here are the pics.

Thanks,
Joe

There's 3 faces on it: a clock, a barometer, and a thermometer. The top has a compass. There is no name, serial number, or anything about who made it on the outside of it or inside. There is a little sticker on the bottom that says "made in China". Its about 9" tall, weighs about 5lbs, with no identifying marks on it.
