Well, it is actually an entire hinge, just in the folded position.  The wood is curved, and the hing (only half of the hinge) contours to the wood.  I'm not sure if the dragons bent the hinge before they screwed it on, or if screwing it on bent the hinge.

Hello everyone, I just bought this at an auction.  I know nothing about it.  I searched online and could not find anything similar.   This appears to be one solid piece of wood.  It is around 36" tall and I would say around 25 pounds, but I have not weighed it.  I could not find any markings on it.  Any ideas as to where it was made?  Age? And value?
