I have 3 tables which appear to be mahogany or oak with a veneer top. They were purchased at auction in the 1940's.  A collector looked at them and said that he had never seen anything like them and that they were unique.  Is there any way to determine their value without paying upteen appraisers?  I am selling the entire contents of my house and I hate to let these items go if they have any value.  Any information will be appreciated.
