Antique Questions Forum / Antique Cabinet with Copper Bin
« on: July 03, 2011, 08:12:08 pm »

Hello,

Having trouble sending message, hope this works.  I had inquired about this cabinet before but only had one pic at the time.  I am sending different views as some had requested.

I recently purchased an Oak Cabinet with a rather shallow (4 1/2" deep) Copper Bin in the top.  It has glass doors and glass shelves (3) inside with many brackets for shelf placement.  It measures 39W x 47 1/2H x 14D.  I am curious to know if anyone knows what this cabinet was originally built for.  There are no signs that the top ever had a hinged lid over the copper.  Someone suggested a humidor but it is not airtight and no copper inside the cabinet itself.  Also wondering if it is European or American.

The pictures are of the front, back, inside and the copper bin.

Thanks for any insight you might have!

Marilyn

I just purchased a cabinet with a copper bin in the top.  It's about 44"W x 48H.  Has double doors and 3 glass shelves inside.  I am curious what it was originally used for, whether it is Amer. or Euro. and the age.
