i have a set of s kirk and son sterling, after the name kirk sometimes it says co, sometime inc, i understand that,however after all of this on some of the pieces there  is a little r , what does this little r mean. thanks john carney, one more question, i cannot make out the pattern on my set, is there a web site,that i can look and try to find my pattern, iam not very artistic or i would draw you a pic, thanks again,john

i have a pitcher, which has the initials down below the scene, these are FNH snf they are very clear. I found an old letter--two pages log--that says this pitcher was painted by a painter by the name of Francis Neiper Herrd (FNH), i cannot find out any thing about this person. this letter says he was born in vienna and died there is 1885, can someone please help---thanks---john carney
