Antique Questions Forum / Re: WWI ? Damask Tablecloth
« on: September 07, 2015, 02:30:03 pm »
That is a really interesting tablecloth.  I collect linens also, and I've never seen anything like that.  I have a linen tablecloth that dates to the 1870's.   I bought it at an auction.  I used it at Christmas one time and DH blew out the candles (instead of using a snuffer) and some candle tallow spilled onto the tablecloth!  He was in the doghouse for a while!  LOL  I finally removed most of it, but I am afraid to use it again...

I also have a linen single bed sheet and don't know what to use it for.  I love linen and it's expensive and hard to find.  I saw in a magazine that it could be used as a tablecloth.  I'd hate to spill anything on it.  If it were a double sheet, I'd use it on my bed.

It is a meat grinder.  My mother had one and used it to grind up ham for salad, etc.

I think that any crack or chip in glassware or china reduces the value considerably.   :(

The chip will reduce the value considerably, unfortunately. :(  It could be used as a container for a fresh or dried floral arrangement, though. :)

It looks like my cherry bedroom set  which is a Kling (not King) and was bought in the 50's.  I love their trademark  shell design.

It is a very nice desk but I have no idea of the value.

That's as weird as putting a Princess Diana beanie baby on Ebay for $1,000,000!   :o What are they thinking?  They say in the description that it's extremely rare, but there are 11 pages of the same item.  ::) Somebody was sold a bill of goods.

Why?

I had a child's red painted rocker that was mine when I was a child in the 40's.  When DH and I moved to a retirement community in 2008 we sent it to an auction house to be sold, along with other items.  It brought less than $25!  :o I was shocked.  I hope you have better luck with your rocker if you sell it.

I see there is one exactly like it on Ebay for $65.  I tried to cut and paste, but it didn't work.  Just search "Heisey" and it will come up.

There is a platter like yours on Ebay listed at the Buy it Now Price of $50, or Make Offer.  The seller is in Canada.

I googled Southern Potteries, Inc. and got lots of hits.  I don't know if any of them have the information you want, though.

Wow!  That's an impressive collection.  I have no idea why people bid and then disappear.  Hope you have better luck with the next buyer. :)

That is really cute.  Conestoga wagons were originally made where I live, in Lancaster County, PA, but I've never seen a small replica like that.  Very interesting.   :)

Antique Questions Forum / Re: Card table with printed top

I also have an old card table with a flower arrangement scene on the top.  It's not the sturdiest, but I put it against a wall and it adds to the decor.  I bought it at a public sale years ago.  Sorry, I don't do pictures... :'(  Not looking to sell it.
