Not getting any bites. May just take them to the thrift store and see what happens.

Has any ever been to the Garage Sale Extravaganza at Gibralter? I never knew about it until I recently looked at their schedule and saw it. I'm just curious how it is and if it's worth going too.

Antique Questions Forum / Question concerning sports memorabilia
« on: September 14, 2011, 08:50:24 am »
I know this is an antique forum but I figured you could lead me in the right direction. I have a basketball signed by the entire 1989 champions, Detroit Pistons. I also have a autographed framed Michael Jordan photo in perfect condition. I know they are real but before I go about authenticating them I want to get them appraised to make sure it's even worth it because I know it can be pricy to get something authenticated. Especially a basketball with 15+ autographs. What type of shop would I go too to get an estimated value of these items? I have numerous antique shops around me but would they be able to appraise sports memorabilia? I just don't know where to take these.

Here are few pictures to make it easier. Basically I was interested in most of these items. Too me, alot of these items look like they have some value. But I don't have enough knowledge to know for sure.

I'm not necessarily collecting but more-so buying and reselling. There are no specific items I am looking for. Just anything I can make a decent profit off of. The problem is I'm so new to this I have no idea what many of these antique items are so I cannot research them. Same goes with the paintings. How would you looks up the value of a painting. Especially when there are no markings on it. I'm new to this so I'm only going off of basic knowledge and gut feelings but I believe I there is good marketing for Schlitz items which he has plenty of. I couldn't find them on the net though. I'm also very curious about the small gun on image 9 below the small clock. Also, I am not interested in is the jewelry and furniture.

Antique Questions Forum / New to collecting, need input on estate sale items
« on: September 07, 2011, 10:06:48 am »
I'm new to collecting. I will be going to my first estate sale Saturday. On the website it shows pictures of everything there and common sense tells me there are some nice collectibles and high valued items. I've tried researching and finding these items but was unsuccessful. If you happen to have some free time, I would appreciate it if you could skim through some of these pictures from the link given and tell me what you think.

I'm new to all of this but it's something that interests me and I would like to get into. It's exciting going to garage and estate sales looking for antiques and collectibles. How do I go about learning whats of value, whats fake, whats a reproduction, etc.
