EBay Forum / Are New Seller's Taking a Hit?

I'm not a new seller, but I did just open an account for selling my items, mostly antique figurines. My wife and I used one together for years but now that I'm selling more than buying, and she the other way around, we decided to split ways for book keeping sake.
I'm wondering though, if now I'm basically going to be giving my stuff away even taking a loss for awhile till my stars are up.
Like for instance, I have this rare Sitzendorf and it's gotten multiple bids(main reason being I started it at 1cent with no reserve and free shipping) yet when I look for it in a search, it's always waaay down in ranks, like in the bottom 10 or 15 %.
I thought ebay liked hot shot gamblers who let their stuff fly out the window in hopes to grab some attention from the buying masses. Am I nieve in thinking this, and should I rethink my strategy and keep it more conservative like the Buy it Now Nymphenburg listing I have up for sale?
