1890-1910s sounds right. Now that I look at it it definitely has an Art Nouveau shape. I bought it at the flea market for $10!

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on this. Its not terribly heavy, but it looks to be some kind of plaster mounted to wood. The painting is done on paper. I thought at first the frame was composite but its very hard and doesn't have granules like composite. Up close it looks an awful lot like wood and is browned but has no grain. I thought perhaps this might be from a carousel or even a ship? Could it be even older than late 1800s? Any info, or links to similar items would be greatly appreciated!
About 10.5 x 16 inches by .75 inches thick

Antique Questions Forum / Is it a Bitossi??
« on: September 25, 2012, 06:18:44 pm »
I have little knowledge of Italian pottery, and a name I keep seeing with a similar style of pottery from the era is Bitossi, but most of those have that characteristic blue color. Who made this? Help!
6.5 inches tall

So I have spent the whole day scouring the internet for any info on this guy, Ron Sheppard, and I'm pretty sure there's no other name that it could be. I picked this up today at an estate sale and was blown away to discover that it is an original pastel, and was even more amazed that the artist isn't famous. Can anybody tell me anything about this artist or perhaps refer me to a forum that might have some big eye art experts?? I know this is worth a lot, I just need to find out some information so I know how to price it correctly.
Also, this is HUGE, I don't have it in front of me, but I'd say at least 2' x 3'

Hi there! I saw two larger versions of this dog at an antique fair last weekend, and was too stupid to go see who made them. I feel like it should be easy to find one like it online, but I am having a lot of trouble IDing him. He's so cute! I was guessing late 40s, early 50s maybe? Please correct me if I'm wrong and share any info you all might have on him!
He has a small tag on the bottom that says JAPAN
He is about 9.5 inches tall.

Its about 4 inches tall, and 6.25" from handle to handle. Also, no its not a stopper in the bottom. I can't really imagine what else it would be besides a sugar dish...

Antique Questions Forum / Lava glaze bowl with signed name!
« on: July 04, 2012, 12:32:53 pm »
Hi there! I have this amazing little bowl, and its got a name on it I'm hoping someone will recognize. I think this is lava glaze, but I'm not quite sure. I don't want to let this go until I know all about it, because its an amazing design! Also, the photos just don't do it justice.

So I'd love an identification if you can, or an appraisal perhaps :)

Antique Questions Forum / Black Baby Composition Doll 1940s
« on: April 27, 2012, 07:18:28 pm »
Hi there. I've looked everywhere online and can't seem to identify this baby doll. Its 12" and I'm assuming its late 40's early 50's, and the body is tan, not Caucasian.
Anyone know what it is?
Thanks
