Found this set last Saturday in an antique market, and now found out itīs by Veyrat from Paris. Iīm not quite sure which Generation. I especially love the box - it looks brand new! Hope someone can enjoy it.

Thanks everyone!

I made another Picture without Flash showing the porosities on the surface. It has quite many dents and bumps so it doesnīt look too modern and the writing makes an old-fashioned look. I donīt know for sure if it is pewter, I just presume it to be. I also failed to find such an anchor stamp.

Cheers, Jack

Antique Questions Forum / Austrian christening bowl pewter dated 4.7.1776
« on: January 11, 2015, 07:53:21 am »
Found this at a local flea market. A christening bowl for Carolina Johnna Hager as a present from her Godfathers (Q.D. Wenzel, H.L. Meier, O.J. Bugman) on the day of her christening the 4th July 1776. The last word is Ros.bag. Any ideas what that might stand for?

There is a stamp on the underside with an anchor, the letters E,B and 08 on the right side. Unfortunately the stamp is not readable on the left side so I canīt say what year 1?08 it stands for.

The Diameter is 32 cm and it is 5 cm high.

Any commets would be welcome!

Hello KC, the size is quite the same as the salt cellars. The Diameter on top is 45 mm.

Hello gerspee, thank you for your help. There is  a similarity in design.

In total the quality of the salt cellars ist finer than of the third "pot".

Hello mart, yes - I strongly presume it is the name of the lady.

Hello frogpatch, thank you for your opinion and the link. It might be that it was a "customer Job" with the Portrait and so it is more "accurate" than the "free" paintings. I agree with you about the difference in the styles. But for my uneducated eyes the Quality is impeccable.

I really am surprised that someone just cut right through the middle of the signature...

Thanks, Jack

Of course - sorry, that surely is important and interesting.

"13" is the grade of silver and "A" stands for Vienna. All three are from maker FS, the smaller spoon ist dated 1849, the other ones both 1847.

Thanks for all your comments!

Hi KC,

the total length of the spoon is ca. 15,5 cm and the Scoop is ca. 7,5 cm of that.

Thanks for all the helpful comments, great fun to be part of this Forum!!!

Good question mart,

I donīt know - the seller suggested it was from a medical doctor due to the "groove" in the handle for giving fluid medications...?

Found these just before Christmas, I like the "Technology" with the folding joint and a "slider" to fix the position. They are from a viennese silver Smith - probably Franz Starke as a nice gentleman from Budapest suggested.

Does anyone else has something similar pieces in their collections?

I just love this portrait I found in a local flea market. The seller told me it was made by Hungarian artist Mano Vesztroczy. Unfortunately the signature has been partly cut off. Maybe someone could identify it?

One picture is made with and the other without using Flash.

Thank you!

So, now I finally got up to make some more photos.

Here the glass liner.

And here a new "pot" similar to the ones - but not quite as well made and also in a different design being open on the bottom. Also an oriental salt cellar?

Thank you!

Jack

Thank you everybody! Great informations in such a short time. Any ideas how old they might be? The tea set from Ockyīs link from 1880 looked quite similar.

One glass liner looks antique, the other one is sure modern but fits in the size.

Cheers, Jack
