You said 'and more' so these were likely on your list too.......

Have you checked ebay for hardware (if that's something you need)? You'd be surprised at what you can find.  ;)

Thank you for your fast reply. I had tried both of these places, but it was a long time ago. So I looked again. This time I found a link from  http://www.shenandoahrestoration.com/index.html. That lead me to a very nice man, by the name of Jim. http://www.hmsantiquetrunks.com/. He does very detailed work when doing restorations on antique trunks. and does a beautiful job. The only problem. He does not do L.V. It's to hard to find parts and says it's almost possible to restore the leather. The good news is we going to work together and give it a shot. If it works out. Great. If not, it's not from a lack of trying.

Thank you so much

Antique Questions Forum / 1900's Louis Vuitton Cabin Trunk.. Repair
« on: April 06, 2012, 09:54:30 pm »
Hi,

I have a Louis Vuitton Cabin Trunk  Made in France. c.1920-1925,  lock # 024744  Dimensions 43'' L x 13" x 22" W
I have not been able to find the same trunk. I have found trunks (very few) with the same Dimensions, but not with the same leather covering and with out slats.

The closest I find http://www.1stdibs.com/furniture_item_zoom.php?id=386630&view=1

I have sent emails to.. Ruby Lane, 1stdids, Pullman,This Old trunk, The Pirates Lair and more.  Trying to find out who could restore the trunk. Or point me in the direction of someone who could. I have but have not received any replies back.

My question " How could I restore the trunk myself. It's not like you find Vuitton hardware at your local Home Depot. I don't want to cause any more damage. How can I keep it from deteriorating any further."

Thank you
