Antique Questions Forum / Carved Egyptian ShoeHorn - Value?
« on: May 05, 2012, 01:03:43 pm »
My grandmother gave me a carved shoe horn that she obtained on a trip to Egypt about 25 years ago. I am positive it is carved out of horn, because of the look of the material, it is black with brown or tan bits. I think it is carved out of three horn pieces: one for the bust on the top, one cylindrical piece with criss-cross carvings on it, and one for the "stem" and actual shoe horn part. I am including links to photos of it, and a similar piece I found for auction online.

And the auction:

The auction lists the similar piece as being worth $80-$160, but there is another similar one available in quantities on ebay for $15:

Is this piece from about 25 years ago at all valuable?
