Antique Questions Forum / Re: I'm Not Sure

I feel like that guy at the party that expected a disco theme. I dressed up, I brought a gift, and it turns out I was invited to a performance art piece of Mozart as a dinosaur.

The link doesn't work, I don't know what everyone's talking about, and the only thing I can add to the conversation is a very awkward rendition of the Bee Gees.

Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.

Hahaha! Well they pulled down the post after I listed somethings I thought it could be made of. I put down the word "Ivory" and it set off alarms and bells everywhere.

Here is the new link and I will update the first post as well:

What do you think I should pull the price down to? I was hoping to wait until I had a few offers and put in at an auction around the middle range of what people offered for it, but I'm just not sure. I wish I could find out more about it.

jbyers, best of luck on your sale.

We gave you all we had of information suggestions previously.  I

Did you ever get a hands on inspection since then?

Yes, several hands on inspections. I heard that it was jade, soapstone, fish bone, horn, bone and probably a few other things I'm forgetting. I just don't know if its worth a dollar or thousand dollars. I put it up at a ridiculous price until I find out what it really is and what it is worth.

Okay I'm not sure about a couple things. First, I'm not sure if I should post this here or somewhere else. Second, I'm not even sure what this is. I'm calling it a pendant, but I don't know if that is right. I just thought I would see if anyone here just happened to know what it is or has saw something similar before. I've taken it to several dealers and I'm always hearing something new, so you won't surprise most likely.

I would love to hear any ideas or suggestions where to post it to find out what it is.

Any suggestions on how to get more exposure to my item? I've never tried selling an antique before especially not on ebay. What are some good tips on how to get more traffic.

Hate to say this,, but you may do better at auction if you do not know what it is !!  Buyers love a mystery,, just make the description colorful and interesting and stick with the facts you know !!  But it doesn`t hurt to throw an idea out there !!

That is what I tried to do. I don't want to be deceptive by any means, but I just honestly do not know what it is. I love to think about what it is though or when it was made and by who.

I am thinking that it is soapstone as well, but I am to nervous to do a hot pin test. I took it in to several more dealers, but no luck on finding out what it is. I am just going to try to sell it. I am sure that I will not have much luck, but I have to try. I need to pay for tuition some how.

Well the title tells the story. I have something and that is all I know for certain. It looks old and other than that I just simply don't know. I have taken it to several dealers and I have heard many different stories on what it could be. What are your opinions? I would love any information.

Here are some pictures and I can always take more.
