Can you tell where the rattle is coming from ??

It sounds like it comes from the legs area, but sometimes it sounds like it rattles all over the chair.

Hi, i do not know if this is even antique (see pictures attachments) but anyway.

I can remember this being displayed in my mum's living room way back when i was nipper. My mum and dad came across it the other day when clearing out the loft, we got speaking about it and thought we would find out what it exactly is.

My mum got it of her dad, which was 27 years ago, and she said her dad had it even when she was younger, in the early 1950's, and her dad had it for years before her. My mum understands its been in her family maybe 100+ years.

An intriguing feature of this piece is that it rattles when shook, like there is beads or such like inside it.

Please ignore the dust on the piece, but has been in the loft for a while.

Any help identifying exactly what it is would be most appreciated.

Kinds Regards

Danny
