Usually a badge will have some type of seal (usually state) in the center to be official.

The helment looks to be fiberglass from the photos and looking at the side picture the badge is on the back.

Kind of has a riot helment look to it and the interior does appear "real" rather than a toy.

Anything else from the landfill?  Once found a landfill from the turn of the century and it was a treasure trove. So much fun.

Cool old box fan that needed just a bit of cleaning.

WWII (dated 1942) shipping crate.

Looks like I've found dovetail seams...one runs where the handle is and another is on the bottom in a circular pattern. It's roughly 1/2" in from the bottom bend.

Hard to notice it from the outside but much easier when looking from the inside of the vessel.

Lead n Brass
I have dealt with several antique Chas Schenk copper pots my concerns would be as follows. Are all the seams sweated/soldered Hard to tell. The only area where it may be is the bottom where it flairs out., why did it not possess more patina if left exposed in a landfill? Its a recycling bin...gets emptied daily.and lastly is it or any part of it magnetic the handle is magnetic ...the rivets don't appear to be magnetic.I see the hamered rivets which is a good thing, but I wouldnt dismiss it may have been brought back from overseas. I witnessed many shops making very good looking handmade brass and copper wares.

Either way a very good looking pot and definitely a keeper.

KC-

Very smart thinking in regards to a scoop and or ladle.

Makes sense.

Edited to add:

It also doesn't sit very flat which also would make it lean more towards a scoop in my mind.

This is the area between the upper and lower mount of the handle #7? Or maybe just looks that way.

For scale...

Can you please list the dimensions of the piece?

Sure...about 4 1/2" tall. Top is 6 1/2" across and bottom is 7" across.

Thanks

This was sitting in the recycle bin of the landfill today...needless to say it is now with me.

Any ideas if this is an older hammered pot? Chamber pot?

Any ideas? Either way it's kind of cool.

Thanks

Thanks for the info thus far everyone...half tempted to give it a run online at a good start price and see what happens.

I'd be wary about that price.

Most others fetching between $100-$200.

Where are you finding the prices? That's the issue I'm having...I find an old auction site with an estimate but no end.

Hmm...I could live with that.

I've wanted this item from a person I known for quite a while. He bought it for a heck of a price years ago and was pretty much his favorite item.

A few weeks ago he said that he wanted to dump it and gave me first shot...still out of my comfort zone so I passed.

I usually see if I can find a selling price on an item and make sure I can regain my outlay if needed.

I found a few of them online but wasn't able to find any solid selling prices over the past 5-7 years.

Well today I got it for an "offer I can't refuse"

Anyone have any input or info on it?  Any ideas on its value?

Its about 16 1/2" L X 10 1/4" W and very heavy (didn't weigh it though) guessing 15-20 lbs.

Thanks-

Thank you all for the information thus far...

I've been poking around a bit on the provided links.

Picked up three of these things for next to nothing.

I searched online for a while but really can't find anything like them.

The marks on the back really aren't helping either according to several sites I've been on.

Any ideas of age, pattern or anything?

Just a few shots of the items and back marks.
