I would be interested in the best way to clean it. Just soapy water or something with a rust inhibitor? Thanks again for your help.

I found this something digging around in the building that used to be a chicken house. I haven't cleaned it up yet, but is metal, showing some rust spots but it is very solid. it isn't rusting through even in the bottom. The rubber on the wheels are in good condition and it rolls easily. I haven't been able to find anything like it on the internet. I'm guessing it from the 1930's from the front graphics. There are no manufacturing markings. So who can tell me what it is and that it is worth thousands of dollars? ;D Thanks

Antique Questions Forum / Re: antique Stained glass window
« on: February 10, 2014, 05:08:11 pm »
It does seem to be tight within the frame. It is 18 x 48 inches, sorry I forgot to mention that. It is very heavy. The purple one is beautiful and would give your room a really pretty glow.

Antique Questions Forum / antique Stained glass window
« on: February 10, 2014, 03:50:20 pm »
We were at an antique fair and found this window. The wood frame is not soft and seems to be in good condition. The glass looks good to my untrained eye, there is a very small spot or two that I see light between the leading and the glass. We would like some ideas on how to hang it for best effect. We were thinking maybe a light box, but don't know how to do it. Any ideas on age or value? I hope we didn't pay too much. We are in Iowa if that will affect the value. The light shining through is very pretty. The center flower is clear beveled glass with cut center lines and the center is red 6 sided bevel. The glass does need to be cleaned if anyone can help with that. I'll supply the soft rag when you get here.  ;D Thanks for your help.

Antique Questions Forum / Primative cabinets
« on: March 30, 2013, 03:41:55 pm »
These cabinets were found in the basement of the house. Not stacked as you see here. They are slightly different in color. The lower cabinet is 30H x 45w x 28d. The pulls look like copper. The top is probably zinc without tears, but some markings. It has a three inch backboard. The upper cabinet is 53h x39w x 17d. I need the storage and didn't have room to separate so I stacked them. All of the hardware looks original. We are in farm country Iowa, what would the value and age of the pieces? The house was built in 1865.

Antique Questions Forum / dining room set

My neighbor has this dining set, table and chairs and a buffet. It had been a gift from a friend several years ago. It is in beautiful condition and the wood inlays are very pretty. What is the age and value of this set? She has been considering selling in order to downsize her home.

Antique Questions Forum / sugar table set
« on: March 09, 2013, 02:31:51 pm »
I found this set that I think is of a sugar, jam and creamer. It seems to me that the metal parts are probably stainless steel as there is no pitting or tarnish. There is a pattern on the glass is is hard to capture on camera. Age and value if you have any ideas. Thanks

Digging in another box in the basement and came up with these pieces of door harware. I can't tell what it would be used on, I'm not sure all of the pieces are there to make a complete latch. One of the pieces says Stover Manufacturing Freeport, IL. Any ideas on age use and value?

Antique Questions Forum / Tri fold vanity mirror

Another treasure! To me at least. I found this mirror in the bottom of a box. Each of the three mirrors measures 9x7 and is beveled. One of the three has just a slight amount of a silvering issue. It has what I think is tooled leather on the back of each mirror in really good condition. The hinges are in good working order and move freely. How old and value please. I'm trying to make a list of all for insurance reasons. Thanks

Antique Questions Forum / Mother and baby picture
« on: March 09, 2013, 12:28:52 pm »
Back in the old house discovering old treasures again! I found this tri-pic commercial mothers and babys, it is a metal framing, small about 5x9. I did not even wipe off the glass as I was afraid of damageing it. Does it have any value because it was commercially produced? I'm not very good yet at dating by hair styles and clothing so what would the age be? Thanks for your help.

I'll try to get some more pics soon, it isn't where we live it is in our other house. The mirror is attached and it does tilt. We are in SE Iowa. Interesting discussion, thanks.

The mirror is a little hazy, but notice the etch detail at the bottom. Would this have been made in the mid west?
