Antique Questions Forum / 1800's Book Of Botanicals
« on: August 30, 2008, 01:39:12 pm »
I have a book that I purchased the same time as The 47 Ronins.  (Thank You for information) This one has beautiful botanicals, did not know much about it until the page watermarks were noticed.  There is no name of book or artist, just some titles of some of the flowers.  The water marks reads J. Whatman 1807 on some pages, Amies on a couple and J. Larking 1806 on some.  You can also see an of a small bird on a couple. The book is not complete, some of the flowers have also not been completed.  There are about 20 large pics and 4 smaller ones.  Book size is about 10"X8" .  Thank you! Any value?

I would really like help with this one! I have a book call The portaits of The 47 Ronins with Biographical Sketches of each Ronin.  I have seen it go for $1500.00.  My book has issues, splits, cloth cover missing spine, it is also missing one of the Ronins, browning pages. Is it worth restoring? was offered $250.00 from a book company.  It is over a hundred years old 1800's.  Thank you in advance for any information!

Antique Questions Forum / Tumbling Clown
« on: January 09, 2008, 09:47:56 am »
I have a tumbling clown, it seems to be one solid piece, it is heavy for it's size not sure if it is wood or ceramic.  He measures about 13" from tip of his hat to the bottom of his one foot.   It is on a metal parallel bar, he tumbles down the bar and rocks back and forth for quite awhile. Any idea of age, who made or value?  Thank You!
