There is no hinge for this pan.  An omelette pan makes the most sense but I am wondering why the wooden handle twists off the pan. If anyone has any ideas about how to have the composition determined and the piece appraised, I will be most appreciative.

The pan is 7"x5"x1 1/2" and has a removable wooden handle.  The hallmark suggests Ellis-Barker 1912.

My husband recently unpacked a box of long-forgotten "stuff" and I found a small oval saute pan.  When I cleaned it I saw a menorrah hallmark and a England stamp on it.  I surfed a bit and found this to be from the Ellis Barker (Barker Ellis) company.  The hallmark dates it at 1912.  It appears to be silver or at the least a silver plated copper.  How do I determine composition and value of this piece.
