Antique Questions Forum / Values on old Family albums
« on: January 06, 2013, 06:21:21 pm »
Photography I have a good idea of what I can get... But I have this old family album from a super rich family from the chicago area ranging from the 30's to Just after the war beautiful photography. Is it better to break it up and sell the photography, or does the album have more value.

I think it is a sort of shock absorber. The 4.0 could even be its kilonewton value a 4.0 kilonewton shock load is little under half a ton of force put on an object. I say this because of the cuts in it they allow the object to compress at differing rates until its maximum compression is reached in the rubber. It is just a guess based on the design.

This is one of the cooler recent finds again like most things no idea what to price it. We have a shop, and pricing is so strange these days you can walk into a salvation army store find something worthless selling for really expensive and sitting right next to it is a sterling silver bowl for 2.00$ that happened to me today. But that is another story...

Here are the pictures I really like this item.

I really dig the picture frame inside with the old picture. if anyone has any dealing in these please tell.

Antique Questions Forum / Re: Perfume Bottle glass stopper with cork
« on: December 13, 2012, 01:58:28 pm »
What is the problem with the cork ?? Frequently the stoppers were wrapped to prevent evaporation since perfume is alcohol based and if the alcohol evaporates the scent gets strong and sometimes stinky !!  Also they were used if the bottle was intended to refill an atomizer !!  These stoppers were not for applying the fragrance like the more elegant bottles were !!

I did not know that but it makes sense I am not sure why the cork is the way it is... All I can say about it is the cork is old and decaying a bit at the bottom of it.

It is not written the mag I will have to gab some other ones and compare, they also list no maker for the glass, but it is good glass I use to work in the film industry and would do lens tests it is good glass just not sure how made it. They are for the oprea i do believe.

These I think are so cool I am going to sell them, but all the same I love them Occupied Japan. I have a bunch of pieces from Occupied Japan but these I love. Sales have been slow because of the "Cliff" so I pulled them to ebay them. I really have no idea how to price them because I don't want to get rid of them. I am just kind of showing them off because soon I think they will have a new home.

I range the stopper design 1870-1920, but the design is confusing me it to me does not feel Edwardian, it feels deco but as I understand the date for a stopper for that Deco was in its infancy at best in 1920. Any thoughts about who and when on this bottle.

Looks like the scrapping has begun....their no worth anything now...antique wise,...your better aff finishing the job...and scrunch them proper like... ;D

Ya is kind of sad but I might just keep them around until I find ones in better shape. They are cool and are a snap in time. I hate scrapping stuff not sure why nothing is meant to last for ever. I just always feel bad when I do it.

What do the tips look like?? To me it looks like a curling iron........based on what I see.

No picture of the tip :( but they are blunt.
If you are thinking of scrapping them for the silver..then why can,t you take a pic of the tips??..you must have access to them...

This one has a good look at the tips... Still not sure what to do with them... Don't want to scrap them. Might try to sell or i will keep and put on my shelf.
