Bigwull is right.  No wind up anything on this....  The wires are glued on the inside bottom, and the tapped "plucker" is on the bottom/rear of the bottom drawer.  So as you pull the drawer out, it hits the wires.

Just wanted to share this with you all.

I was given this from my grandma after grandpa pass a few years back.  At first I looked all over online, but couldn't find anything like it...  Obviously it was made in post WWII Japan, and a pretty cool little box I plan to just keep in the family for a while.  Not all that interested in the value, but wanted to share it with everybody, and see if anyone has seen one like it before, and knows anything about it?  The bottom drawer has a little pin that plays a "tune" when you pull it out.

Hey, sorry, I've been out all day, and not able to respond.  Great answers all around everybody.  Thanks so much for your advice!

I somewhat agree with Mart, in that I just need to turn this stuff around as quick as I can, while still making a profit.  I'm renting my own 12'X25' storage unit (filled wall to wall right now) in the mean time for $250 a month, just to hold stuff until I can sell it.  So time IS important!  However, if just one person on this forum thinks it might sell, it might be worth posting it up for a couple days, since there's bound to be others out there.  I've sold just a couple small pieces of furniture so far, and made my investment back, so now I'm all profit!  Should I maybe post this door for $20?  $30, $50, $100?  Any shots in the dark?

Hey all!  As I said when I first joined a couple weeks ago, I'm just getting into buying abandoned storage lockers, and can't wait to see all the good stuff!  (and maybe some bad...)

I bought one a couple days ago with this hinged door, or room divider, or w/e it is....  I'm sure it's old, since there's not a screw on it.  It's all bolts and nuts!  Is this piece as a whole, or even just the hardware something I should try selling, or just burn it as old junk?

Ok, so I'm new here, and don't really know anything, but I LOVE a good Google search challenge....

Does THIS PAGE help you guys out at all?  Or have you dismissed it due to irrelevance?  I noticed most the "A Letter" part:

A Letter
The letter, whether it is upper case or lower case, and the shape surrounding it, combine to indicate the year the piece was formed.  Each May, a different assay master was appointed and held office through the following April.  To match a precious metal piece to the assay master who oversaw its assessment, a system of revolving letters was used, one per assay master’s one-year term.  Twenty letters of the alphabet were used; J, V, W, X, Y, and Z were not included.  Each letter was used in turn, five times per century.  Each time the letter came into rotation it was varied in style or in the presentation of its surrounding shield.

Ok so.... Still doing my own searching, I've found it's called a "Cricket rocker".  And found a couple examples online...

This first one looks to be the exact same design as mine, the only difference is it only has 1 spring on each side, where mine has 2...
Plus somebody "Antiqued" it, which from my understanding is bad for resale of antiques???

the next one I found has 2 springs, but the design is completely different...

Any thoughts or comments on those?
